I can't believe that I am saying this as I still don't believe it myself. My big yellow fluffy monster Custard died in the early hours yesterday, one month after Apple
This is is exactly why I didn't want any more buds, and why I have decided no more now. I can't believe it.
on Saturday morning Custard was his / her usual cheeky self. Later that day, early evening I went into the bird room and noticed he was straining to poop and making this weird squeaking noise each time. He became very fluffed and wouldn't eat.
I took him to the out of hours vet. My avian vet teams up with 7 other practices out of hours and take turns each. I had to take him to a random vet which is an hour drive away, I hadn't been to before. They gave him painkiller injection and away we went.
Sunday he was a bit better and could poop, and ate a bit, but then as the day went on he drastically became worse. I phoned the small animal hospital in Glasgow, and shame on them, they refused to see us as our practice was not 'linked to them' I explained it was an emergency but they told us no, go to your own practice. So again, away I went an hour to this random vet who wasn't avain, but tried his best to help. They kept him in, gave him meds, and kept him warm, they took a crop sample and no virus or bacteria showed up.
My big chicken died and no one has any idea why
I dont know what I am doing wrong. I feel I am failing my buds and can't even keep them alive and healthy.
The emergency vet transferred Custard to my own vet yesterday morning and they checked him over and could see nothing obvious wrong. They suggested it may have been a tumour hidden well, but really won't know unless a post mortem is done.
i am devastated.
My beautiful Custard is gone. Too many too soon.
