Just don't let him out when it is on. I put mine on in a morning, it tends , to quieten down as I thought, but apparently this morning they made more noise than ever I tend to do 3 -4 hours a day and it has changed Jo totally within a week of having it and I honestly thought it would not. As Op and I have said we think we need one as well!!!!!! When mine is not in use I bend it over behind the tv as it is on a bendy floor lamp, mmmmmmm little madam Jo has found it, it is not on, also the little so and so has found the ceiling lights and I have to say I don't dust them but tomorrow is the first job to do. Would highly recommend a lamp of some sort, I have the Arcadia bulb.

The Scarlett warehouse is not far from me amd I'm repressing making a request to go have a look around! Nosiness is not a reason to bother them though haha. I looked at the floor lamp suesbird, I could accommodate either but my worry was that this one was too close? I am probably just worrying as per usual *blushes*

I have emailed for advice. Also, another question! How many hours are your buds awake (ie uncovered, lights on or daylight) per day. I am an early riser and he always seems reluctant to wake up and get active, but come 9pm he is WIDE awake and very active. He may still be on shop hours 9-5 but it was just a general 'awake' question

I think the recommended distance is 18" to 1 metre

So probably the floor lamp option. I'll wait and see what Scarlett advises then make up my scatterbrained mind

Hehe porthos, I'm not originally from around here either but the old 'hun' thing is so lovely it sticks! I wondered about a group tour for those of us close enough, but that's something to organise at some later point. I am still reading blogs and posts on here, I swear it will take me years!

Here is the lovely Scarlett's reply to my query: Hello Thank you for contacting us and thank you for your kind comments. We often feel the smaller birds are over looked, Cockatiels, Budgies, parrotlets etc and companies think a plastic mirror and a bell will be fine! That is so not the case and these precious birds should not be underestimated for their ability to chew, forage and play. Looking after my neighbours 3 budgies while she is on holiday has taught me a lot and we had busgies ourselves many years ago though shamedly whilst given a big flight it was of a time where toys etc were not really thought of. Anyway, back to topic. Your budgie/s would benefit greatly rom a UV light. I am in all honesty, not familiar with that specific cage but as long as it is a wire top so the light can shine down through it, it should be fine. I actually have one for one of my mini Macaws attached to a metal bracket on the wall. They are quite robust and as long as they shine down onto your bird it will be perfect. I would advise giving your bird some time without the light on, maybe 2 - 4 hours a day with it on at first but we have had very positive feedback and we notice a huge difference in our birds since using them. I hope this helps and am so pleased to hear we are managing to provide an equal service for the little guys on our website. Best Wishes Scarlett What a lovely lady

bless her she really is! if the uv lights are too far away from the cage they don't get the benefit of them so I find the clip on ones ideal but that could partly be due to me having so many birds to, I have learnt a lot from Scarlett in the time I have known her and she is always happy to help they do make such a difference to a birds life xx
