Replaced Douglas's plastic bath that hooked onto the cage door for a large stainless steel cup a good few days ago. Each morning I have been putting it in with some fresh herbs, he eats the herbs fine but today......he got IN it and had a proper full on bath!!! Sorry no pics, I was frozen to the spot, afraid to move incase I put him off

Do you think that`s because of his light? I did say it increases their want to bath

It must be Scarlett, he has been preening soooo much since getting it too. He looked light such a poor bedraggled soul afterwards!!

Drowned rat Pippin looks like, especially as he is minus a line of feathers where he cut it

That is wonderful I just wish Tyler would let Bonnie have a bath to herself but he will insist on jumping in with her.. pest..... even when he's told off it doesn't deter him....bird brain

They are such scruffy little brats after a bath. I love it!

Much better, he has a bald line down his tummy, I think part of it were the feathers aggravating it, so in a frenzy about 12 come out in one go and he was much happier. His eye was much better in 24 hours and I think it was what Hezz said, he had a feather aggravating it.
He is terror for not letting Jo have a feed sometimes, he takes 10 minutes to eat slowly while she is in and out. I do have two feeding stations, one where Jo has always fed from so she knows where to go.
They have their squabbles but on the whole are fine. I just posted a picture of Jo's new water trough and she is going mad over it.
How is Pickles, are they accepting her more now, I hope so?

Glad things are settling down then in the Jo and Pippin household suesbird. Pickle is in the large cage. That's it. They just ignore her. She preens a lot, when they preen, she feeds when they do, she stands up for herself with Harvey, but the others just stay out of the way. I haven't been able to let them out much this week, hopefully this afternoon and tomorrow, so we will see how things pan out then.

Douglas didn't bathe yesterday at all, I didn't mist him as I didn't want to stop him having a bath when he wanted to. I've put the bath in again this morning but nothing yet. Should I just offer it and let him bathe when he needs to or should I mist him at the end of the day if he hasn't used his bath?

Just offer it and let him bathe when he needs. Too often will wash the oils from the feathers. Same with misting, they don't need it every day.

Thanks OP, as per usual I should just follow my instincts, I figured if he nibbles his grit and gnaws his cuttle bone when he needs it, he will do the same with the bath

If he gets a bit smelly under the wings you can always encourage him to have a bath.

Good on you, Douglas! Bathing budgies are just wonderful. All this talk has got my lot excited about theirs! Here is a pic from this morning:

They all like that bath then. I'd like one of them to take a bath. I need to get then onto leaves first though. Except Whiskers, he will bathe in a glass of lemonade pop with ice cubes in it, if let him.
