so heartwarming and poor Ditto.. must be so hard to not be able to do things for herself... just a thought.. is there a way, of having like a raised softer floor, with cut outs, not massive, as obviously she would fall through, but like say a box that has the cut outs for cup cakes idea.. that way, if there were some cut outs, hopefully she might get lucky and when lying on her tummy, the hole would be underneath in the right place so poop would drop through... sorry prob not explaining very well It's a difficult one as she gets caught up on things easily. Her little legs don't move well so she would get stuck in any holes.

Been in the garden all day with the sick chook, trying to get her to eat. She's getting on now and the slightest thing the others see wrong with her they start chasing her off the food and pecking her. I have to make sure she eats without them bothering her. Managed to get some sweetcorn down her and she had some grass. It might be that she's just naturally coming to the end of her life and there's nothing I can do but I'll try anyway.
So sorry to hear that starlingqueen, my chooks like grapes when they are poorly, or even when they are not poorly. Hope your chookie gets better soon and it's not what you think it is. (hope I've copied and pasted that bit of your thread properly).

Just been down and given them their evening corn and treats and she didn't even try to eat. I had some more sweetcorn and persuaded her to eat a few, better than nothing. She's 5 and a half now, they say they can live to 5 on average so it could just be old age.

Sorry to hear about the chook, SQ. I am having the same sorts of problems regarding food with Smudge - Mango is forever chasing her away from the whole cage area. I have had to set her up with her own little feeding station in the kitchen. I know this next bit is probably not going to be of much help to you, but you never know: One of my nephews' wife is a paediatrician and she was telling me a while back about the work she had been doing treating children with spasticity with botox injections - the botox relaxes the muscle that has hyper-contracted, allowing the other muscles to contract themselves naturally. These injections, along with physiotherapy was helping them achieve some functionality of the affected limbs.

That is interesting Hezz. I wonder how small a dose would be needed for a budgie.

Sorry to go back to chooks - how is your poorly chicken Wendy? starlingqueen. She's still not good but her tail is up and she's eaten some egg today. I think she may be turning a corner but will have to wait and see.

They have made a few modifications which have taken some time but It has been sent out and for free. These remarkable people said they weren't completely happy with it so gave me a refund.

They are amazing. I didn't ask them for anything special but when I ordered the platform Karen emailed me to ask what it was for. When I told her she was concerned that the bowl may pop out if sat on the floor of the cage so said they could make it higher. But I was worried Ditto would have trouble getting on to the platform so we came up with the idea of a channel or a dowel down the middle so Ditto has something to grab with her beak and pull herself up. They have been working on the idea since. It was sent out yesterday so I'll let you know how it goes when it arrives. These people need an award of some sort.
