She certainly is improving. The moment you started massaging her was great. It seems the joint does cause her pain. What a wonderful job you are doing.

She is the most amazing wee bird, she loved the massage, and I thoroughly enjoyed watching her enjoy it. It's amazing what your doing with her physio, she couldn't have gone to a better home.

Wow she is coming on a treat, definitely getting quicker , she really seemed to be enjoying her little massage too. I think the biting will stop in time SQ, the more you handle her and she gets used to it the better she will be, sore fingers crossed anyway

I feel like a horrible monster. Whenever I go to her cage she starts the chittering noise and moves away as fast as she can. She hates being picked up and is ready with her beak. I now give her a little massage and then do the physio then end with a lovely soothing massage where she falls asleep. Hopefully she will begin to associate me with the nice massage rather than the person who pulls her about. I also go to her cage just to talk to her so she doesn't think I'm only ever going to torture her. If she hates me forever after this I wont care, at least she may have quality of life and my son is always there to comfort her.

I keep wondering if she could be in any pain, i don't like to say it but maybe the reason why she is so noisy and bitey

I keep wondering if she could be in any pain, i don't like to say it but maybe the reason why she is so noisy and bitey I don't think she's in pain as such, a bit uncomfortable maybe. She doesn't squeak while I'm doing her physio. She climbs around the cage and wrestles with her toys and with her now jumping, I don't think she would if it hurt. I do know she doesn't like being held which is why she bites us. She's a little madam who has a big personality and knows what she wants.

Yes i think, as you say, if she was in lots of pain it would show in other ways, not much interest in food etc. Its so difficult to know but she certainly seems to like the hip/side of leg massage, she seems to quite down when you do that. Just being a typical Hen by the sound of it

SQ, I'm with you; I never expected to see such improvement and so quickly. She is a lucky bird, so lucky that you have the time and patience and tenacity to work with her, even if she is ripping your fingers to shreds. Congratulations, everyone involved. I also think the biting will become less as she settles more into your house and as she get more mobility and less frustrated at not being able to do what she should be able to do.

Not much to report today except that she seems to have calmed down a bit re the biting. She still does it but not as often and only when we have our hands round her. If she is just sitting on our hand she doesn't, well not all the time any way, just the occasional nip. Physio still going well although no change in condition but you can't expect too much all at once. I'm hoping she will get stronger as she gets older and her better leg will eventually support her. I have started lifting her up at the front so she is standing and encouraging her to walk. Her right leg seems to lift with her body so I gently put it into the correct position.

Is her right leg stiff or is unable to lower it? Possible ligament damage as you thought earlier. As you so rightly say Physio takes time and may not show much improvement at times. You really are doing wonders for this poor little soul.

Even with no physical notable difference, I am sure your ongoing physio is helping her there for the next improvement to come. You are doing such great stuff together; keep it up. I am so happy for you both.
