So we collected Darling Dougie from his holiday home yesterday. He was there for a week with two parrots, numerous other animals and three children. When we got him home he was his normal self, in fact probably more interested in human interaction than normal.
Then, today, he has been 'fluffing up' and napping far more often than has been usual. Everything else is normal, poops fine, eating and drinking fine, exploring outside of his cage fine.
Is he perhaps just tired from a week in a mad house or could he be poorly?

Ps. He didn't come into contact with any of the other animals and was kept in his cage

I know others will have better advice, but I can totally see how he could be tired from being in a very active home for a week. Even if he wasn't in contact or outside his cage, that is a lot of activity to be around when it's not the norm.

I hope it's just that he's tired. It is possible. If he's not better tomorrow then might be worth a vet visit though..

Maybe Douglas is just tired after his vacation. I know I always am. Keep a close eye on him, especially changes in his poop or eating habits. Get plenty of rest, Douglas.

Could it also be a change in environment? This last week a good few of our budgies seem to have gone through a moult.

Perhaps Douglas didn't feel totally relaxed on his hols, and now he is home he can relax completely and it will take him a couple of days to get back to normal. I hope this is it and he soon gets up to all his little tricks and games.

I have monitored him all morning and he is fine in every way (currently chomping on his egg food), I suppose it was just the change in environment, he was in such a routine before that it must have been a bit of a shock to the system. I'll keep a close eye though, just in case!

That's good news. Glad he's settled back into his routine. They just like to keep us on our toes reajen01

He's just making you feel guilty for not taking him with you.

He's just making you feel guilty for not taking him with you. I do think it was a bit of a sulk, especially after I showed him the holiday snaps. That was the problem all along, the little so and so is fine now!

Were there any photos of budgies sunbathing or having fun in the holiday snaps? You can't expect him to be interested in your snaps if there is nothing to interest him! Hens in bikinis might do the trick next time

Hens in bikinis!! Do I sense another gap in the market?? Hahahaha!! My friend who looked after him has an African Grey who mimics the smoke alarm - turns out Douglas has learned this noise and keeps scaring the life out of me as our smoke alarm sounds exactly the same (it gets tested every time the OH cooks )
