In light of recent events, It has come to suggestion that a list of persons should be created of those Forum members who are willing to take in Budgies that can no longer be cared for. By no means is this meant to be judgemental of you or your situation, but a little background knowledge (if known) about the bird/s does help immensely to know what people are bringing into the rest of their flock.
It is also extremely important to know of any medical history of your bird/s.
Another important point to be aware of, is that this is not intended to be an easy way to get free birds as your flock has the potential to grow very quickly. If you then have to rehome them, it will be a lot harder finding someone willing and able to take a large flock, so think carefully about how many you can SAFELY and COMFORTABLY accommodate in the space you have available.
If you wish to have your bird/s rehomed, please Private Message the names of those that are closest to you first in the list. Be prepared to travel as not everyone will have the ability or time to travel to you, and be prepared to wait a short while in order to complete the transfer.
If you get no joy with a Private Message, then feel free to place an open post in the Budgies Looking For Homes Forum.
If anyone is wanting to join the list of re-homers, please state where you are including your Town or postal area, whether you can take boys/girls or mixtures, or anything else that you may think of. Also, as a re-homer, please remember to cancel your "membership" to the list once you have reached your limit so as to avoid unnecessary messages etc.
Once you have arranged the re-homing of your bird/s, it is safer and less stressful for the birds to be carried inside a small cardboard pet box (one for each bird) available from most pet shops or online. If you have to carry inside a cage, please remove all but one perch, and then put this perch as low as possible in the cage. Remove all swings/toys food and water.
Re-homers List:

what a great idea to set this up...
maybe we can also have one for those able to take budgies when their owners go on holiday, not budgie boardings nearby..

Has anyone considered that circumstances change and someone may not want to put their name up as a permanent caretaker, but at the right time and place, they may love to take in a budgie needing a home??? I think it should be left open to all members to read, as it is now, with any member being able to make the offer, rather than going straight to PMs to those who have added themselves to the list. That seems a bit unfair to me.

Agreed that peoples circumstances change Hezz. The person with the budgie/s to rehome can choose where their bird goes. They may not want an aviary, they may want a personal home-set up for their birds. Their choice.

I think any budgie re-homing is wonderful and I currently wouldn't be able to offer a home for a bud in need. But in six months time I may be able to, if the situation came about and it suited all concerned, so yes, I think perhaps keeping it open to everyone is a good idea - especially if we have buds that have not lived in aviaries and their owners want them to go a 'home based' home ( I hope that makes sense)

If there happened to be someone very local to me and their budgie needed a home then I would definitely consider taking it. (I live inbetween Portsmouth & Southampton for reference).

Also, I think ....... might be considered irrelevant to this topic ....... that most birds living with their people have more space to fly about than those housed in backyard aviaries. The aviaries I have seen on here are rather small to my mind as I am used to seeing much larger spaces given over to the birds.

Just in case some people have got the wrong idea, this post was NOT created just for people who have an aviary. It was started for people who have the space to accommodate rescue birds, whether you have a large cage, spare cage, or whatever, indoors or out. At no point have I said it was for aviary owners only. It would be foolish of people to rehome a long lived house bird in an aviary, so some level of common sense is required when conversing with the owner over it's history, and what the owner wants.
It IS an open list. If you have the space and are willing to take in a bird or several birds, then put your name on there. If you currently don't have space then it doesn't matter if your name is on there or not, you still wouldn't respond to a request. When your space is full, or your circumstances change, you remove yourself, simples!
The idea of the list is so that there is a "known" list of people readily available to rehome birds that owners can directly approach. This doesn't stop anyone posting in the "Budgies looking for a home" from the outset, but that could cause unnecessary waiting. If a bird owner doesn't want to wait for someone to respond to their post, they can come straight to someone on the list. Not everyone may like their bird to go to an aviary, or to spend all day inside a cage, and the thought of their bird flying around all day with other birds in the fresh air might appeal more. Hopefully this is what would be discussed at the time.

So, I see that most of the posters that I have come across so far are not from the US. I AM located in the US. In Atlanta, Georgia.
I am willing to take in a few Budgies, male and female. I have enough space for birds needing to be individually housed, or birds that can be housed with other birds.
