Welcome to the forum, Victor. I have no answers for you. I leave that to the experts. Your baby budgie is adorable. The beak does not look so bad to me. Good luck!

Thank you for the warm welcome! Yes he is my little ray of sunshine!!! Regardless of his beak he is perfectly rambunctious and loves to explore. I've had many parakeets as avairy birds but I'm going to raise him as a complain pet. Since he is still on many feedings I take him with me to school (I'm an elementary music teacher) and he gets to see all the kids dancing and singing. I hope being around so many kids that he becomes very friendly.

Hi, and welcome, Victor. The photos are a little hard to see the beak clearly; unfortunately the camera has focused on your fingers in most of the shots, but what I can make out it doesn't seem too bad ..... is it??? At least you have caught it early, and that must give him the best chance for it correcting itself. I am afraid I don't have any experience with this sort of thing. I do hope it all works out well for the little fella.

What a fab little budgie, he looks like a happy little punk rocker. I hope you don't mind me saying it but I just love him.

I clicked on the photo and it enlarged it, sadly this doesn't help as I don't know how you can tell on such a young bird if it's ok or not. Why is everyone calling 'him' he? I suppose you can only keep your eye on 'her' and hope for the best. Very cute though!

He (she) is just so squirmy and my camera favors what is still. What a fab little budgie, he looks like a happy little punk rocker. I hope you don't mind me saying it but I just love him. No, go right ahead! I love him so much as well. He brightens up my day! Thank you for your kind words. I clicked on the photo and it enlarged it, sadly this doesn't help as I don't know how you can tell on such a young bird if it's ok or not. Why is everyone calling 'him' he? I suppose you can only keep your eye on 'her' and hope for the best. Very cute though! Your completely correct, I don't know his/her gender yet. I just can't bring myself to call him/her an "it," the baby is just to precious for that. For some reason I just say "he" but she/he could be a girl. I'm trying to think of a dual purpose name for my baby bird. He/she is really putting on a lot of yellow feathers, maybe you guys... and ladies, could help me with a name.

Do you remember Fraggle Rock? Your little baby reminds of Mokey, the babies cere look like two big eyes just like Mokey. May be a good name, check Mokey out

"He" is just easier to type than she or he/she. It doesn't mean anything at this stage. I perfectly understand Victor's reluctance to call him "it". He or she has a gender; we just don't know what that is, yet. And I understand the problems of trying to hold a squiggle-worm still enough for a photo.

My remark was meant tongue in cheek, therefore the big smiley!i.e. I don't like it when people call my dog he, because she's a she however......I agree about the 'it' I have apologised when mistakenly called a baby she and it was a he and vice versa but how do you tell when they're tiny. Do hope your baby (bird) turns out to be ok, that's the main thing

That looks similar to the beak of the little guy that we took in about 5 weeks ago. His beak was almost completely flattened, it took about 3 1/2 to 4 weeks for it to start to look normal and now the only difference between his beak and any other budgie is that the tip is still a little flat and not hooked. I hope your gorgeous little guy's beak will heal itself like ours has done

Oh, of course, Jean! I wasn't having a go ..... sorry if it came out that way. That's fine, difficult with no facial expressions! I mentioned it for public awareness more than anything

I hope your gorgeous little guy's beak will heal itself like ours has done That is wonderful, your post gives me much hope! As of today my babies beak looks much better around the sides but the tip is still kinda funny. It just makes him special. Regardless he is growing and reeking havoc! I scheduled a vet visit just to make sure he doesn't have any other problems and it was just parent error rather than a birth defect, although I don't remember seeing this when he was born. Yesterday I found him perched on top of his tupperware container. It was so strange as I've never seen them perch so early. And today he climbed out and wobbled his way to me from across the room; thankfully I keep his tupperware home in a draft free place on the floor or he might have gotten hurt! Time for a deeper plastic container!

How sweet, and great news that the beak seems to already be correcting itself. Wonderful, wonderful. Please let us know what the vet says. Hopefully the beak will completely right itself so he has no problems feeding normally.
