I think I may have hurt Coconut or done something to upset her tummy when trying to give her medicine.
She gets her anti inflammatory for her nasal problems every day and that's ok, but I noticed today she was fluffed and her cere a bit of a crusted mess and her nostrils disappearing again. I don't think she's feeling well. So I caught hold of her about 30 mins ago to try and give her some of the antibiotic she had left from a few weeks ago, and to try and pick some of the crusted bits away but she wriggled and squirmed and I couldn't get a proper hold of her, then when I let her go she was vomiting continuously for about 10 mins solid, with seed going all over the place.
She had been eating just before I caught her, do you think it may be I just upset the seeds in her crop that she had just eaten? Shes calmed down now and eating at the moment (still not in bed yet!) I'm still worried though. I may take her to the vet tomorrow anyway to be safe.
I really wish this nasal thing and odd skin growth over her nares would clear up once and for all. I don't understand why it keeps coming back!

Poor little Coconut. I hope the sickness is nothing to worry about lemonade. Sorry I have no advice to give. I thought the problem with her cere/nostrils had cleared up. Lots of love to the wee one. I hope she's ok.

Unfortunately not jellybean, it seems to be an ongoing, recurring thing. It makes me worry about her lifespan to be honest. None of my other birds have nasal problems so it can't be a transferable thing like catching cold. I don't know how it came about or if it will ever be solved I thought I was trying to help by catching her to pick the crustiness off but just caused her more discomfort Fingers crossed I get to see the vet and it's straightforward

Oh no. I do hope that was a one off for little coconut. Merry was a bit sick yesterday after he had a fly around the lounge. He has a respiratory problem too that comes and goes.

Has the vet said that it is ok to pick the crusty bits off? Otherwise I cannot understand why you would do this, it may be crusty on top but still very fresh, and "attached" underneath, like a scab can be.

It is possible that her crop was uncomfortable after, lemonade. Is the crust growing over her nostrils again? Feel sorry for you both; such a worry are ongoing problems. Were you able to open up her nostrils at all? Also the meds might have made her feel off as well; you know what that can be like.

Otherwise I cannot understand why you would do this, it may be crusty on top but still very fresh, and "attached" underneath, like a scab can be. This is exactly what the vet does when I take her there. She cannot breathe properly otherwise as it builds up over her nares and blocks them. It's perfectly ok to pick some off until you get to the actual cere then I would stop. It's hard to explain when you can't see what I mean but if you seen her you would see the difference of her cere and this hardened discharge / growth over her nose. She he has an appointment at 5.40 this afternoon with our avian vet so I hope she will feel a bit better afterwards, once the professional has cleaned her up and unblocked a bit.

Hezz I wasn't able to open her nostrils at all She squirmed too much and had to let her go. She went to bed making that clicking sound and I noticed she had her beak open so was obviously breathing more through her mouth

It was awful at the vet. Poor coconut was crying the whole time my vet held her, not squawking or screeching, a really sad crying noise and I felt terrible.
There's little hardened lumps coming out her nostrils and more or less completely blocking them. He tried to pick them away but they just bled and with her being white it was horrible. I felt so panicky the whole time there.
I have this strong solution to try on her cere which has astringent properties and also antibiotic, and if it works it should shrink these growths and make removing them a lot easier. It's all related to this bad nasal inflammation and infection she had. So we are back next Tuesday and hopefully will have some improvement by then if the solution works. And if she stops squirming and let's me hold her ok.

You have my best of thoughts Lemonade and I do hope Coconut begins to improve. It must be very painful both physically and mentally for the both of you.
