I've been watching Criswell closely since he stopped his meds on Wednesday. He coughed a bit yesterday and again this morning and he's been rubbing his face on his perches. I'm not sure if that's more than usual though. Today his poops have much more water around them than usual and that happened before each time he regurgitated. He seems fine in himself though so I might just be being over anxious. And his poops were perfect last night and look much more normal this afternoon. So maybe I'm worrying about nothing.
If his poops don't go back to normal then I shall take him to see the other avian vet in Cardiff this week. Our usual vet is only working for 3 more weeks so I might as well switch now and the new vet might have some different ideas of what to try as I don't just want to put Criswell back on Metronidazole and I don't want to wait until he regurgitates again before seeing the vet.
I will keep you posted. I hope it's just me be over anxious.
Hezz already suggested probiotics and I think that's a sensible idea so I'm now going to see what I can find online.

I've ordered a probiotic. His poops have been fine since the afternoon and no coughing. So probably I'm worrying unnecessarily. I'm an expert at doing that

Both of mine love a good scratch whilst they are moulting. Pippin has perfect poos but Jo's change all the while she does love her fruit and veg and I think this is what causing it. I also think they are more watery with the warm weather.
I really hope he is ok. wings and fingers crossed for him.

I do hope you are worrying for nothing, but better to be the way you are than to not notice anything until it is too late. If you need to change vets and it seems you do, even if he is well it might still be worthwhile getting him checked out again anyway. But I do hope he is all better, and maybe just drinking more because it is hot.

Thanks both. He's his usual self this morning and no coughing. He's currently chirping away to some music and he's had his breakfast. He was awake before me this morning and calling for me to come down and see him when he heard me get up. I'll be on poop watch again today though.

Thanks budgiefriend. I'm going to be on edge for the next few days. It was 8 days between his meds ending and him vomiting again so I'll feel a bit more relaxed if we make it passed 8days this time. It's 5 days since the meds stopped this time.

Well, Criswell wasn't himself this morning. His night time poops were wrong and he was quiet, stressed and really gnawing his iodine block. My OH heard him gnawing at his cuttlefish bone last night too.
So we took him along to the other avian vet this morning. She was very good with Criswell and talking to him all the time. I wrote down Criswell's history and took that along and she read it and kept it to type up in his notes. Then she did a crop swab and also checked his poops and she found yeast in his crop and faeces. She said it might be a secondary infection after the antibiotics or that might have been the cause all along. She also weighed him and he's now 51g (up 6g from 15th June).
We have to give him fungitraxx (itraconazole) 0.05ml once a day for 14 days. She also said he should have a probiotic and suggested avipro but when I said I'd ordered some bioplus she said that would be just as good. That should be here tomorrow.
He's going back in 2 weeks for a check up.

Thank you budgiefriend. He is going to hate having another 14 days of meds.

You are doing very well with him, criswell - as others have said he is getting very good care from you and the vets. As most of us know, it is horrible when they are ill and you are forever anxiously scrutinising behaviour, poo, food consumed etc. The effect of that alone changes their behaviour. I know when I am worried (as now) I don't sing and talk to them as much, and they must pick up on that.

Thanks birdguhl The support I've had from the forum has been so great, especially as I'm totally new to birds. From lots of observation I feel like I'm getting better at knowing what his behaviour and body language is telling me. We've just had a lovely singing session together with him sitting outside his cage. He stayed out with me for about half an hour which is ages for him.
