The device used to capture the image will usually dictate the orientation of the device when the picture was taken. Depending on the device it will usually save extra data along with the image data into the file. Not all programs will use some or all of the extra data. Most programs will use the orientation that the picture should be viewed at.If you upload the image directly from a phone, iPad and similar devices then the picture will nearly always be rotated. The simplest way to correct this is to load the picture into a PC or Laptop. Open the picture into an image manipulation program, if the image is the right way up, rotate it 90o then rotate it back again then save the file. If the image is already rotated then rotate it until it is the correct way up and save it. When you upload the picture to this forum it should appear the correct way up. Hopefully this will help someone, if I have explained it properly.
