So I only got a tiny cage that is what I would consider a transport cage when I bought my new buddy from the pet shop. They did not have any bigger cages that I liked. I did go to Petsmart and Petco this weekend to look at some cages in person. I love, love, love the Hagen Clear vision L02 but hate the face that it doesn't have a pull out drawer. I also like the Prevue Hendryx medium flight cage. Not really a flight cage in my opinion but nicely laid out. It is about the same size as the Hagen, 26" long by 14" wide and 22.5" high. I also looked at one of those stackable breeding cages that is 30" long by 18" wide and 18" high. I want a cage big enough for two birds eventually. It is going in my living room so I am leaning towards Prevue because I think there would be less spillage of hulls etc. I would have to think up some sort of skirt or some for the breeding cage. What do you guys think? Does anybody have that Prevue cage?
i love the Ferplast cages but don't see where they are sold in the USA.
Edited to add: I just found the Prevue cage with the same length and width but 36" high instead of 22.5".

I would go with the last cage you mentioned at the end of your post.... sorry how many birds? Only two birds. I went ahead and ordered that taller Previe cage. It was the same price as the shorter one.

Sorry, I am not familiar with these cages, so can't really comment. I will say, though, that a cage cannot be too big.

budgieholic that cage is awesome!
asha93 thank you for telling me about Jollyes. I am in the USA so I am afraid the shipping would be really expensive.
The cage I ordered is 26 " long by 14" wide by 32" tall. There was a shorter version that is 22" tall but it was about the same price. I have nothing to put in it though....it has those perches that run the length of the cage so I will be replacing those to give the longest flight distance between perches. It will be pretty basic at first.

Okay let's see if I managed to do this. This is our new cage, or at least half of it. There is another section which makes it twice as tall. I had that on but took it off as it seemed ridiculously large for one bird. It is 26" long, 14" wide and as pictured, 22" high. It would be 36" high with the second section added on. It has only basic perches and dishes at this point. Not much in town to choose from. I can mail order but not really sure what he needs or might like yet. Here is a better shot of little bird. He is still too shy to tell me his name but there is no rush. We are going to be friends for a long time!

Lovely to see some natural looking perches in there for your little man, Grace. Have a look through our toy section to get some ideas, sometimes it is more fun to make your own, but in general budgies love swings, bells and things to pull apart. It can take ages to start to play with their toys, some don't like a swing, but most do.
For your cage, to make cleaning easier for yourself, line the grate on the bottom with newspaper; you can put these down for consecutive days so you only have to remove the top sheet and just like that the cage is clean again for the day. It makes walking around on the floor of the cage much easier for him as well. Get yourself some seed and water pots that can be hung on the sides of the cage so you lessen the risk of him spoiling his food or water. Make sure any metal on the toys is listed as stainless steel, as other metals will rust and cause illness to your bird if he licks the metal. Get yourself a supply of stainless steel bells - they will cost you a bit, but worth it in the long run as you will have them forever. For more ideas on cage layout there is a thread "Show us your cage layout". This might be useful to you as well.

Thank you, asha93! Ringo seems happy in his little home. I will add the second level when his wing feathers grow back.
