Some books I adored as a child ...... probably not so relevant in today's society, but ...... here goes .... The Silver Brumby series by Elyne Mitchell. Set in the Alpine regions of Australia, the stories are based on the herds of wild brumbies (wild horses - owned by no-one) that inhabit the regions. If anyone has an off-spring that is horse-obsessed, these stories will entertain them for hours. Some have been made into an animated TV series. A trilogy - My Friend Flicka, Thunderhead, Green Grass of Wyoming - by Mary O'Hara. We are going back to the 1940's here, I understand that a movie was made only a couple of years after the first book weas published. These books, too, are horse orientated, the first being about a young boy being given the responsibility of raising, training a young filly with half mustang blood. The story is still a tear-jerker for me, even though I know how the book ends ...... I do remember my mother having to stay up reading this to my brother and I for a couple of hours past the scheduled reading time until we had gotten over the most upsetting parts of the story. Be prepared for tears.

The Little Grey Men
Author: BB
The last four gnomes in Great Britain live beside Folly Brook in Warwickshire; they are named after the flowers Baldmoney, Sneezewort, Dodder and Cloudberry. After Cloudberry goes exploring one day and does not return, the others make the tremendous decision to build a boat and set out to find him. This is the story of the gnomes' epic journey, set against the background of the English countryside, beginning in spring, continuing through summer, and concluding in autumn, when the first frosts are starting to arrive.
(I don't understand why it hasn't been made into a big film franchise!)
