So after some consideration, I decided to go ahead and get a second budgie. I feel sorry for Ringo alone so many hours while I work. I realize they will probably never be as tame as a single would but that is okay. So I watched the budgies in their little enclosure for quite a while before choosing. There was this beautiful little male who kept going up to another budgie whom I presume was female trying to impress her. He sang his little heart out, bobbed his little head up and down and did the most lovely little dance. She watched him for a minute, then blithely turned her back on him and began to scratch up the bedding on the floor all over his head! So of course I brought her home. I could not resist such attitude. She is happily installed in her quarantine cage and she are Ringo are happily calling to one another from opposite ends of the house. All seems well with her except she is opening the guillotine style food cup doors on her cage and dropping them repeatedly, making a loud bang. I must go find a clip for those doors before the little stinker gets out. I am thinking she is a little hen but no matter if not. Hopefully in in a month or so I can introduce them if all goes well. I am going back to read the threads on quarantine length and introducing new budgies to make sure I get it right. I am calling her Lola.

Hello Lola, you certainly sound like a little Hen, and one with attitude, lol. What a fab time you'll have Grace when these two get together.

Fantastic ....... I am impressed, Grace - someone who reads the advice offered and actually takes notice! Well done, you! You get the gold star for today. I was so sure you were going to take home the little singing boy ....... can I have him??? Poor baby, left there with no one to sing to now. Anyway, I am sure Lola and Ringo will be great mates in a month or two's time.
