I just wanted to put a little note about my lovely Budgie Bertie who has since passed. I miss him every day. Bertie was the sort of character that new budgies would seek reassurance from. He was without a doubt the most popular budgie in the aviary. His laid back nature, his friendly outlook on life, his happiness were all traits that made everyone want to be his friend. His illness was getting no better, and he had been suffering. He'd had a good go at trying to fight, and a good fight he put up: he had been ill since the beginning of July. Everyone knows when a budgie gets sick they turn a corner quite quickly, they either get better or they pass. So three months was a long time in the land of budgies. Everything was tried to help Bertie, but to no avail and the horrible decision was made to stop the suffering. Bertie did get a chance to say goodbye to his friends in the aviary; although he couldn't go inside for fear of spreading infection I put the cage next to the aviary. Captain America, Percy, Mabel, Ron and of course his best friend Bob came over and tweeted to him. Bertie knew, he tweeted back and found the energy to climb up his cage. They said their goodbyes, then we said ours. He will now be flying in fields of millet, with his friends that have gone by. He will be eating as much as he likes and have no pain. He can flutter and take in the beauty of the blue sky, when it rains it will be warm rain that he can enjoy showering in and then bask in the warmth of the hot sun afterwards. Life will be beautiful again for him. Fly high and free dearest Bertie ❤️

Heaven is a brighter place now that Bertie is there. Hope he finds all our little budgie angels so they can share happy times.

Bertie was a special, sweet soul. No one can doubt that you and Bertie gave it your best shot at making it through. Bertie may have passed on, but a place in your heart will forever be his.
Fly high, little man.
