Wasn't it BB who had a male who attacked and killed the hen? Yes, it was; I have found Dilly's thread: budgerigarsforum.proboards.com/thread/8241/dilly-budgie-story?page=1We all became very fond of Dilly over the weeks of watched her develop. Unfortunately BB is not able to grace us with his presence very often at the mo. Work and ill health keep getting in the way, but we all miss his advice terribly. It might be worth a read through, bud07, and will confirm that you have done the right thing by removing the male. Ahhh i had forgotten all about little Dilly, well done Hezz . I don't think it happens very often with the males but the signs are there with this little chap for sure.

I'm so glad that mum is doing well with them me too, iv noticed her out a few times today eating seed and egg food, but no veg, so a poked a bit of broccoli and cucumber for water, through the nest box and she ate a little, and dampened egg food, she woofed that down .

Fab. It's probably best that she just has two little ones to care for. Hopefully it'll make it easier for her.

I think she is doing great. It must have been a stressful time for her when Joey was being aggro.

Wow, chick one is huge now He/she looks like a pigeon haha I know, shows mums doing a good job, with a little help from moi! he's 2 weeks old today, looks to be a green. Joeys calmed down now, hes not stressing and settled in well with the boys. So this first breeding experience had it's ups and downs but its turning out pretty well, good job because look whos been venturing into the box.

iv seen her lift her tail but dont think hes really sure what to do yet. Funny yesterday, I think shes really wanting chicks now as I seen him leaning forward yesterday and she was trying to jump on his back.He looked very confused.
