Hello All!
My name is Eleri and yesterday morning I collected our newest addition ...... Elvis .... I'm so excited to tell you all about him and show him off, he is such a cool little fella....
We (hubby & I) are first time budgie owners.
We have been looking to add to our furry family since last summer and after much research and debate we went to the National Pet Show at the NEC in November. Who should be there but Eric the budgie and his human ...... Well we fell in love and that really confirmed that it was a budgie we were looking for to add to our 3 dog, 3 chicken household.
After the show I contacted Eric's human and after much questioning and slight over excitedness he kindly agreed to keep us in mind if any of his baby birds were suitable for us. He has been truelly fantastic, sending pictures as Elvis was learning and getting bigger.... He has even worked at hand taming him so he happily does step up and is more than happy to have cuddles and fuss. Thank you R for being a brilliant breeder.
So I got him home and he settled in really well, he was happily eating away in the car and then again when he got home. He came out for his first cuddles about an hour after we got home and every couple of hours since. He seems very content.
I've shown him round his new cage and he has had a good investigation/snuffle of the toys but I've kept him in his travel cage for tonight so he can get used to the house and noises.
Honestly I could not be any happier with him unless he suddenly starts singing Jail "bird" rock and saying uh huh huh all of a sudden :-)
Thanks for reading and thanks for all the advice and tips (I've been lurking for a while)
Eleri
