How was Bailey when you grabbed him? I only ever managed when I first had him, and not sure I got that much Ivernectin where it should be, lol Budgie dynamics is fascinating. Would love to be one for a day and see what they really think Ah, Bailey was done just before i put him with the others, i knew the others were due and didn't want to stress him out watching the others protesting. I just did it quickly and quietly one morning, i don't think he had time to think about it, it took less than half a min to do, ive become quite quick with it now and have developed the knack He looked at me for a while with that "how very dare you" look but we were good again half an hour later, you just have to go for it and get it done He spent the night again last night and is even feeding from the other feeders now, not just his purple ones, there are 10 mirrors in there now including his own and he has checked them all out and they have been approved, i think we can safely say he has settled really well in the commune

Beautiful photos, I must get my camera out again. I acquired one of those mirrors with the little perch in front of it. I made the mistake of placing it just above a perch and far enough away so that Bobby could climb onto it without much effort. It was also placed within easy reach of the seed bow. I found Bobby getting a seed and climbing, with ease, from the seed bowl and onto the little perch. That has all been re-arranged so that if anyone wants to sit in front of the mirror they have to at least jump on. They can be rather lazy don't you think.

way back when I had Dusty.. if I had been out, or away, once he was let out again.. he had to go to the mirror in the bathroom, both in the bedroom and then in his cage, just to make sure all were there and A-ok
I do love how they get with mirrors, but Bailey has always loved his. I had mirrored coasters on my coffee table.. and they were a big hit
I wonder if mirrors are more important when they have been a single budgie.. I reckon maybe so

Ahh bless Dusty , most definitely, a single Budgie will be more mirror obsessed, they are their flock and they all look the same Ive just had a thought while i was stood ironing and listening to the beautiful quite chortle and chatter that i have been treated to today, Bailey has not attention called alllll day, not once I also realised that he has been with us three weeks today, how far he has come in that three weeks love him, he seems a very happy boy .

Thanks OP, they sure can be very lazy if given the chance, i try and make my lot work for everything if i can, even my old people have to get off thier derriere's and climb down for thier food, bit hard like that

yes, indeed, lol.. gosh they ALL look like me
I think now Bailey is in the big house, he isn't having that 'need' for you as much, which is good. he has finally started being confident probably. Yes.. gosh it seems like longer (well, for me here it does)..
he is indeed a very happy boy.. it is a shame for the reasons he moved but so glad for him as he will thrive. He had a good grounding and now can be a budgie :-)rather than a semi human, lol

Sky has eight friends and he still spends at least two hours a day in front of the mirror.

I wonder if mirrors are more important when they have been a single budgie.. I reckon maybe so Mirrors are important to Brodie but way down the list when compared to BELLS! He spends a fair amount of time chatting to the birdy in the mirror but I think he'd notice the loss of bells far more. I love how they all have their own silly ways. It's so good watching Bailey in his new home & all the antics of the flock!

Mine all LOVE mirror's and shiny's but they don't follow them out of the cage when they leave to be cleaned like Bailey does, he counts them out and counts them in , he has also found the shiny door catch and chats that up a lot

Anyway where was i . Thank you all so much for my hugs on the other thread they were gratefully received . I hope i didn't give you all the Lurgy as i came down with chronic Tonsillitis that night which would explain my unusually low ebb, it has kicked me when im down, i cant speak much but i can type so i thought a little update on my lovely's was in order . Everyone is well and despite their moults in fine fettle, it must be the Abidec vitamins that Fran gave me for Bailey, they are on day three of four, Bailey has it they all have it. I will be interested too see if it helps Jo too as he is going through a nasty FM at the moment where we have had blood in the cage from broken feathers, here's hoping A question for Fran, twice at bedtime, once in his own cage and again last night in the big cage, we have had what i can only describe as a little tantrum from Bailey, he seems cross at being put to bed and quacks and bashes the bars in front of my face, im sure if i asked for a kiss at that point i would get a swift bite on the nose. Is this something you recognise Fran . The other thing is, when they were having there afternoon siesta yesterday and all chortling away quietly to themselves, Bailey was talking in English, he went through his whole repertoire, the others kept stopping to listen, it was so sweet and funny at the same time and the first time i have heard him talk in their company . Some pics of siesta time JoJo is missing his sister's company bless him, i may see if Bertie will live with him.

Brilliant pictures. Sorry to hear of the tonsillitis. It's funny how things like that get you when you are at a low. With regards to Bailey and the talking, it will be interesting if any of the others try to imitate him. Whiskers will have a tantrum at times, bashing whatever is near, swings mirrors they all get it. I wonder if it is a male thing.
