The cere looks purple to me (Can you confirm this?)
If so then this is a young male.

Sorry, but the address is incomplete for the image. Are you able to rotate the image on a PC and resave it so that the images are the right way up. Its the iPad that normally does the image rotating, is that what you are using?

You have a female called Boycie? I'd wait until definitely sexed before calling this one Marlene not that the budgie could care I don't suppose, just to help us on the forum. I already get confused with OP's female called Edward and one called bobby (female bobbie?) .....and they're not the only ones wrongly sexed I don't think! I wonder why human names are so popular for budgies now I'm sure they weren't years ago?

Thankyou kindly once again. When I got Boycie it became quickly apparent that he was a she. However being big only fools and horses fans she retained her name. Marlene obviously had to be the name for our other addition, chosen by our children! The breeder is a neighbour some very very obviously hens. Regardless of gender marlene is very different in nature to Boycie. The breeder has an aviary and has only had his budgies for about 1 year. He has some lovely budgies but trying to sex this one was trickier than the others. Kindest regards x

I guess that some breeders find it hard to tell the sex, if the bird is young
