Hi everyone...
It's been a month or so since I put my Huckleberry to sleep and only last week I put my Imzi to sleep. I am feeling very rotten and haven't felt like coming on the forum until now as it's very important.
I tutor a little boy every week and his mother was talking to me about budgies. Her nephew has a budgie. She told me many things that shocked me.
First of all, the budgie was an unwanted present but her nephew kept it anyway. The budgie has never been let out of it's cage as her nephew was afraid of it . Her nephew is 16 yrs old now. This budgie has been in a room by himself for the past several years with only 2 toys that have not been changed ever. The mother told me that the nephew washes the cage with Dettol and washes the cage with the budgie still inside as he is afraid to let it out.
I felt incredibly sad and found it very hard to keep a tear back. She is a lovely lady and very pro for animals. I told her that I will try and find someone to help this budgie. I would love to have kept him but emotionally I am not ready and I am getting married in August this year so I am going to have major changes in my life e.g. moving homes etc. I don't want to put a budgie through it all... renting in London is rubbish as many places do not allow pets.
Is there anyone willing to take this budgie? My fiancé is willing to drive to pick this budgie up and to drop him off to his forever home. He really needs some major TLC.
I live in South West London and the budgie lives in Maidstone in Kent at the moment.
Anyone nearby that would like to give this budgie a home? I'll try and get some photos next time.
I am praying someone can give him a home that he deserves.

I sincerely hope he can find a home with one of the lovely people on this site, or someone who will love and care for him like he so desperately needs. Poor Darling.. If only I didnt live a hop and a skip across the pond..

More information would be nice if you have it ninz1. Age, colour etc., a picture too, and is he in good health? I don't live too far away from London or Maidstone, so, I'm not making any promises, but will definitely consider the options. Edit: So sorry - should have commented on this: that I am so sorry you have recently lost your two little buddy friends. I was thinking too much about rehoming the budgie you mentioned. So sorry for your loss, concentrate now on your future and the changes you are going to experience, perhaps you will be able to have budgies again at a later date. I do hope so. Take care. x

Hi ninz1 Firstly I wanted to express how sorry I am that you had to put Imzi to sleep, I know how much you loved Huckleberry and Imzi. Secondly, I am not really in a place to take on a new bird right now, it's been 3 weeks since Roswell died and I still feel a lot of heartbreak. But if you cannot find this little bird a home after say 2 weeks then I'll take him. I'm hoping that Shirls can take him and maybe he can be friends with Billyboy the little scamp M

I echoed the other sentiments ninz1 on your loss. I lost 2 budgies last year within a month of each offer so understand how you are feeling right now. Hugs to you x

This is so sad, I really hope this little bird finds someone who will give him the love and care he deserves. Same here jellybean, no one, no animal deserves to be in this state. Hence why I don't personally like zoo's!

So sorry to hear about Imzi. It was bad enough when Huckleberry passed after his long fight, but now lovely Imzi too... how tough for you.
I feel sick to my boots reading about the poor neglected bud. I hope someone here can help out.

So sorry for your loss, concentrate now on your future and the changes you are going to experience, perhaps you will be able to have budgies again at a later date. I do hope so. Take care. x Sorry- became side tracked!!! Now this is all I know: Age... he thinks he is a few years old but I have no idea. Colour... Blue and white, that's how he described the budgie. I have asked for a photo so hopefully he can get one for me soon. He is currently staying over at his aunts and left his budgie with his grandmother (I have no idea how she is treating the budgie). I don't even know if the budgie has a name as when I spoke to him, he kept saying 'the budgie'. He is in good health, however, the budgie has never been to the vets. I am not sure what members do but I used to give Imzi and Huckles a health check every year with nail trimmings. If you could give him a home, it would be amazing. I would if I could but there is no point dragging a beautiful soul into a household that will have many changes. I have seen many times when sadly budgies are given away as people are moving or having children etc I just couldn't live with myself if I did that as I make a promise to be there for the budgie/pet forever. By the way, I have no complaints to people if they had to give their budgie away for whatever reason they had, just that I couldn't do it Thank you Shirls for your lovely comment. I miss my budgies so much, especially with the short amount of space between their deaths. I had only just begun healing from Huckleberry's last day when suddenly Imzi fell ill. I haven't really cried about it, I just feel a bit out of place. I feel like I left Imzi at the vets and should go and get him. I hope to have budgies one day. They bring so many happy memories but when they're ill, it is so painful.

Honestly, I am not thinking well these days, I am all over the place. I knew of Roswell passing away and I didn't think once to think of your feelings, especially as I too have lost my best friend. My mind was so focused on helping this budgie that I was not sensitive towards your situation and feeling. I am very sorry that Roswell died- It's such a rotten feeling but time is a massive healer and our friends will help us through it. It is so kind of you to make that offer. I am hoping someone will want him. It would be really rewarding for this person too as this budgie hasn't had the love he needs. I will be giving new toys as well to say thank you to his new owner

I was in shock when he was ill. Imzi lived for 8 yrs. I just couldn't believe how quickly these years passed. Thank you for your lovely comment. I really hope he finds a loving home. My fiance has been so supportive and would drive the budgie to his forever home.
