We have decided to get Teddys cataracts removed. He struggles so much with the blindness that we feel he will be so much happier if he could see again. It's a very costly op but we feel he is so fit and healthy he could go on for a few more years yet. He has a strong heart and lungs and if the struggle he put up just having his claws clipped is anything to go by he's as strong as an ox. The vet was even impressed by his strength. We have to wait for the specialist vet to contact us before we have the final verdict on if he's suitable and fit enough but our vet said it looks promising.

What a wonderful thing it is you do. He would be so surprised to be able to see again. Fingers crossed that you can make it happen.

Tilly has the start of it and when i have to i will have her's done, if she is well enough of course It's the diabetes that has sped up the process. It will cost the best part of 4 grand but he could have another 4 or 5 years yet and he's so worth it. He has been a wonderful dog and even saved my daughter from getting stabbed or goodness knows what else, when a man cornered her in an ally with a knife. Teddy barked so much he ran off so what price can you put on that? Save

We've just had the vet call to book the first consultation. It's the 10th of October and it will cost £147 before we even decide if we want or can go ahead.

Where do they get the prices from. I can understand an operation costing a lot of money, but a consultation.

The consultation will include a test on his eyes to determine if his eyes are suitable for the procedure. This will mean he will need a sedative.

I do hope that you are able to give Teddy his sight back, it would be so lovely for him.
