Yeah, I figured that as soon as Jellybean asked what happened to them, I scrolled through some Google images and was like "Oh, yeah... How'd I not notice that for a month?" ... None of the budgies had any in the store, at all. Next time I'm there, I'm gonna want to ask about it. It certainly hasn't stopped Budgie (or Missy, or Lady, or something simple but elegant) from flying around the living room with grace and glee. Oh, wow... Starlingqueen... Simple but elegant? How about Grace? Oh that is perfect, it suits her. Grace, is a lovely name. Hello Grace nice to meet you.

Shirls, I think the reason your two stubby budgies couldn't fly terribly well was due to the reason they didn't have tail feathers, rather than the lack of only the tail feathers, if that makes sense? On the odd occasion when one of mine has lost both feathers there hasn't been any change to their flying, and theirs had been lost either by accident or malice. One feather had been lost due to a normal moult, but the other met an untimely accident.

Do you have actual wild parakeets outside? That's amazing. I watched a tv show about them once. I live in the frozen north of the United States so all I have are sparrows, robins, and black birds. A wild flock of budgies must be something.
Also a comment about her tail...my two boys lose their long tail feathers when they molt and they are very very slow to grow back. So Budgie might get hers eventually to grow back out. If not, it's not a big deal. Everyone else already mentioned that she can fly just fine.

Yeah, there's often about 6 parakeets in each of the two trees outside my windows, and there are often flocks of at least 10 that pass by several times a day. I live just a short walk from Virginia Water Lake (Windsor Great Park) in the UK, so I feel quite lucky to see all sorts of birds. Herons, Cormorants, Egyptian geese and even the occasional Red kite. I always hear the woodpeckers and owls, but I yet to see one. I'm just glad it's only the parakeets that turn Grace into an air raid siren. If she started talking to the other birds too, I'd have to start buying my ear plugs in bulk.

Grace is absolutely lovely, the name suits her as far as I can tell! My buds wouldn't let me pet them (sleepy or not) so count yourself Lucky if you get some scratches in sometime! I would just pull back sore fingers! My Buds go crazy if they hear the Quaker Parrots outside, and get really frightened, but what really aggravates them is to see/hear a pidgeon! Juju hates Pidgeons and Nappy dogs too!

Heya! I'm gonna go ahead and revive a thread from over 4 years ago, because I've never forgotten you pals, and the most exciting thing happened earlier this evening! I wanna share it with you! After four years of trying to gently prod Grace, just to have her scurry to the other end of the room as soon as the faintest contact was made... Today, she decided it would be okay for me to gently stroke her, and after a few minutes of this, she just casually hopped straight onto my finger, and I had 15 minutes of her just chilling there as I carefully crept across the room like Mr bean in slow motion, to turn my webcam on and catch a snap of it!

Lovely photo. She's looking very comfortable there, as well. May there be many more such times to come.

Posts like these inspire people like me to never give up hope on their birdies being tame! Happy for you and your bud..and all these achievements are so big, when it comes to these lil creatures 🥰

That is just incredible! Thanks for sharing! You deserve a huge congratulations for your patience and dedication to your lovely bud! How will you celebrate? I celebrated with a lil' bowl of millet spray. On reflection, it was probably a bad idea. I'm still trying to pick it out of my teeth.

Well done little Grace, keep it up. Teejay you should know to put your millet between two slices of bread and butter, and always choose red 😛
