My 16-year-old nephew has decided he want to be an artist. He's having a fight with his parents over staying or not staying in school. While he's a very bright boy, he's just not interested in his school work anymore. He's done this picture, called The Blue Bird, inspired by stories my mother tells him about Boo from her regular visits with us. It's very Picasso-esque. (Although she clearly hasn't mentioned Boo's big yellow head.)

I am not sure if it's the brush strokes (looks more like it) or the wrinkles in the paper but it appears to be a very good drawing for a 16 years old. (Of course he doesn't know about Yellow Face budgies ;D ). What about going to an Art School? With this talent he can do wonders in Art School.

I'm sure I could give him a few lessons on yellow faced budgies.
As for the painting, I believe he painted it in oil. I'm sure those paper-like wrinkles are painted deliberately to look that way.

It was bath day the other day. I started giving him a little chuck around and under his chubby little cheeks...he loves that when he's all wet from his shower... Then he returned the favour and began to preen my finger... Home manicures... by Boo. If only he could also file and buff my nails while he's at it.

When I do this with Dumpling, he always ends up biting me when he's had enough preening.

It's getting a little cold in Sydney now winter has arrived, so I bought Marc this hand-knitted Nepalese woollen jumper. (Brand new for $49 - bargain I thought.) Now he and Boo look like twins. All I have to do now is find Marc a yellow beanie and even their mothers couldn't tell them apart.

His new favourite breakfast. Porridge. It absolutely must be served in a bowl and at the table, so he can eat with the grown-ups.
