I usually put in a half millet spray every now-and-then when all eggs have hatched and a chicks are not very small any more. (And mostly when I'm afraid that the parents may beat the chicks.) The breeding pairs got good quality eggfood (for this actual pair I started to mix in some hand reering powder too), cuttle bone and mineral block. I don't have any calcavit (or what the name was for that Calcium source you can put into their water). Should I get some of that too?

Calcavit or Calciboost is a life saver and must available next to every breeding setup. Calcium is very necessary for breeding birds. Read here

Once I read here that someone suggested that it can be also too much from Calcium and then the eggshells may get too hard, making the hatching difficult for the chicks. I can't recall the replays on that post...
Thought it's enough that they take a lot of the cattlebone. I was probably wrong with the egg eater hen...
Thanks for the link! Strange that I never heard from neither Calcavit or Calciboost from the local breeder I'm visiting regularly. I don't think he is using this type of supplement. I will ask him next time.

Too much calcium can be lethal. It has to be exact dose.
