We'll have to agree to disagree Hezz. 15 birds have been given to me for free to look after and they were not free for me to feed, buy toys, supplements and vet care for. Some people just saw my blog, some were on the forum and some visited my home.

Marianne Marlow thats the same reason why I asked the person if she'd let me have her bird for reduced price or free as it had no toys, no wooden perches and a small cage so I would have had to spend a lot of money on it. She wouldn't budge so it's the bird that ultimately lost out. In this case for the sake of £20 I would rather know my budgie is going to a good home. I didn't want anything for Beaky as finding the right home was the priority, and didn't he land on his claw feet with skysmum? I couldn't have asked for a better home for him which is worth more than money.

Precisely Jane. Maybe what Hezz means is she wouldn't give the bird to a random person for free, without checking them out. But to be honest even if someone paid for my bird I'd still not just hand them over without checking them out. Yes Bumble really landed on his feet

Yes Bumble really landed on his feet Yes I agree with Hezz that you shouldn't just hand them over. I was lucky that skysmum was on here and I live localish to her so could see Beakys living arrangements first. It was poor old Squawk I felt sorry for when I dropped Beaky off, all on his own. It's a shame the person selling the one near you hasnt got in touch. Maybe it's worth calling him/her and having a chat. Changing the subject briefly, Squawk and Chirpy are still getting used to each other but Squawk's already loud voice has got even louder lol. When I came home from shopping yesterday I looked in the window and instead of seeing a Squawk statue in his cage, looking all forlorn, he was climbing the bars, really animated. Squawk is so much happier now he has company and he seems to like me more. I can stroke his feet now instead of him biting me.

Well I did not hear back about this bird and it's still on gumtree.

Hopefully a budgie that needs a home will find me soon. I have lost 2 birds in the last 8 months and have the space for new friends.

I have emailed him to say I'll pay the £15 for the budgies. I just feel so sorry for her.

I am so pleased for this little girl. She couldn't ask for a better home Marianne Marlow.
