Humph!!! Well........I suppose we'll just have to wait then Loved this post Hezz. What a cracking road trip for your OH. And Loki......what a boy he's turning out to be, I suppose his age will have a lot to do with his antics, just like mischievous teenage budgies. I can only imagine the poop if its been saved up all night Don't fancy the bites though, but I'm sure loving this boy, and the stories that come with him. Keep reminding your Mum Loki that we want a video

Very interesting reading there Hezz. You will have to wear a mop cap to cover your hair and, well, perhaps a less revealing top so Loki nips the material and not your skin!!

A MONTH , we really must have that whip round for a second camera in the Hezz household Wow lucky OH, im just trying to work out if this is all a fair deal though . It sounds like your sharing your house with a naughty toddler , hopefully he will calm down as he matures a bit, or not I know what your saying about Buds being clean compared to other birds, the Meeps are soooo messy compared to them, for something so small they can't half poop and they sling their food all over the place, give me buds any day

I have to remember that he is just a toddler/teenager, and not an adult, even though he is 11 months old, jellybean. Because of his clipped wings, he hangs off the door of his cage making little flapping motions, just like you see baby birds do when wanting to be fed, but these are for me to come and get him. Cute, but a bit sad, too. Nah; that won't be happening Sam; he would have bitten me to shred by then! A mop cap is exactly what I need, Shirls. Last night I had a bandana and a scarf wrapped around and over my hair. Of course he still found little bits. It gets too hot to wear much more; he is just going to have to learn what not to do ...... He shovels through his food looking for the good bits, pulls what he feels like off his kebab and walks somewhere else to eat it ..... if he hasn't already dropped it, onto the floor, from where muggins is supposed to pick it up from. Tries to bath in his drinking water straight after I have cleaned the cage and put fresh paper down for the week .... that's twice it has happened now: straight into the nice clean (dry!) cage and straight to the water pot. Guess who is whipped straight back out again and given the pie dish?? He certainly baths like a rain forest bird!!! I usually use the kitchen bench; after today I'm thinking in the bath might be a better bet, but I would have to get in with him!! The pie dish is not quite big enough for him to stretch his wings and he keeps hitting the sides with them. He is literally dripping wet when he's finished.

Loki sounds a real ball of fun Hezz. He will be absolutely brilliant when you have him trained! I think you are enjoying his 'toddler' years though.

Yes. And, no, Shirls. He can be a nuisance, but a lovable nuisance. I have noticed that he is gradually getting into a more seasonal timetable .... heading off to "bed" once it gets dark and I have hung his little tent up inside. I am still not sure if he sleeps in it or not, but he does seem to love getting in there once I hang it up. So he does seem to be fitting into a more budgie-style time-table. This morning, I did do the weekly cage clean, so while Mango's cage was being given a good clean out, she took over Loki's cage ... by choice, not by design. I did wonder how well that might go down, being as Mango is not as mobile as she used to be, and I did keep a very sharp eye on what was going on. Loki seems so much slower to get around than the little birds, but still, Mango isn't so sure-footed anymore, either. Loki approaches open beaked, looking very antagonistic, but I am not convinced that that is his intention, but not convinced that he approaches with good intentions either. Mumma bird, me, is definitely not going to allow her injured chick to put in a position of being subjected to attack.

I suppose it is like having another child again Hezz and having to have eyes in the back of your head!

My Dad has an Amazon Mealy and he never went for a bath but my Dad built a stand out of a brush stale and Freddy now has a shower with my dad a couple of times a week, he loves it and sits on his stand flapping about in the water pouring on him.

Loki sounds like Hector.. he also flaps for me to come and get him! Wears you out doesn't it?! It surely does! Except Loki really does screech when he wants attention. Hector would never be so undignified.

You right Hezz, Hector just squawks and flaps. But he's started doing this new thing now!
If he's on my hand and wants to go somewhere, as well as squawking and flapping he also nips me on the thumb to get his point across. He'll keep nipping until I take him where he wants to go.

Hector is obviously a very smart little guy. Loki has been such a good boy this afternoon. He was screeching and carrying on after his pm snooze, I opened his cage for him but he carried on for quite some time while I got on with the housework. Then he stopped and got busy entertaining himself, a first, I think. He has even been gentle with his nibbling, rather than nipping. I am so impressed with him, he needs a little treat, I think; maybe another small round of corn.
