Just before the summer of chaos (when Marshie managed to escape and, a couple of months later, poor dear Iany died), I'd ordered a new cage to replace the old Mini San Remo I'd had for ten years. The new cage is currently in the attic, awaiting my next foray into budgie-keeping, but I still have the old one if anyone's interested in taking it away. I've cleaned it and disinfected it with F10, but the main problem with it is that there are a few areas of rust here and there, which, being a DIY idiot, I didn't feel able to address. Obviously, rust is toxic to budgies, but I knew there was no chance that the lazy, incurious boyz would try to peck at these particular areas - for example: Just to be on the safe side, while it was in use, I did cover these areas with electrical masking tape - for example: It comes with the original 3 stainless steel bowls and 2 wooden perches - you can see the full spec at www.cagesworld.co.uk/p/Montana_Mini_San_Remo_Small_Parrot_Cage.htm. I liked it so much as a budgie cage (particularly the opening top) that when it came to ordering a new one I opted for virtually the identical model (though they now seem to be unavailable). If anyone's interested who's willing and able to deal with the rust would like to pick it up (I'm in Wiltshire), please PM me. (It divides up into 3 sections: the cage proper; the plastic base; and the wheeled stand.) I'm also advertising it on the local Freecycle site, but so far, no takers ...

Good news - finally the old cage has found a home! I (=Ian Budgerigar) managed to persuade a local for sale/wanted FB group to let me join (I'm shocked at the number of such groups that don't seem to want a budgie amongst their ranks!), and the first person to contact me turned out to be from a local charity, Calne Wild Bird and Animal Rescue. They collected the cage yesterday afternoon.

You know it will be well used and much appreciated. A win for both of you, that's good.
