it's been about 17 days since she actually started sitting on them I did some candling on the eggs this morning and in the first laid I could see what I thought was the chicks beak in the air pocket does this sound rite? I'm new to this haha, unfortunately yesterday the mum got a egg stuck to her belly and it cracked while she was flying round and inside was a tiny chick (3rd egg laid). Has anyone else had this happen before?

There is a "Add image to post" option on the top left hand corner, click on that and select your pictures or you have to go through something like Tinypic

At this stage, let the hen do her job. If the chick has not been fed in the first 24-36 hours, then you will need to interfere.

Ok thanks! I looked before and the babies crop is full and it's making a lot of noise, since the egg has hatched I've noticed Sally the mum is eating things she never used to like mango and pineapple and a lot more egg! Maby she knows she needs the extra goodness haha

Yes they are Both spending most of the time in the nest box together! There was another chick this morning when I woke up, I think there's 1 more fertile egg so that shouldn't be far behind hopefully

He's lovely!
No idea with regards to mutation I'm no good at that but he looks just like my Heathcliffe so will be interested to know what he is.
Two of my birds have just had chicks, and I was advised to leave the nest box for a week to allow the hrn to bond and other eggs to hatch. Even then it wasn't that dirty, it was when the chicks were a couple of weeks old that it started getting soiled and needed changing.
