359 budgies have been rescued and urgently need rehoming!
In short: The birds were handed over to the RSPCA by their owner who had them living inside in a bungalow free flying.
The story can be read in this link RSPCA need help finding homes for birds!

Looks like they may only rehome the budgies to aviaries.

359!!!!!!!!!!
Crikey. The RSPCA will split them up and send them to different centers for rehoming. Dorothy, Gloria and Ivy were in a group of about 30 who were taken off someone for neglect by the RSPCA. My local centre got half of them and the other half went to another centre.
Makes me feel a little sad, as bonded pairs could be split up.

Bless them, definitely got out to hand there didn’t it. Is it just me or does the yellow bird at the front of the second picture look like it has French moult, it has no tail feathers at all?

Just been shown this by a friend, wow what a lot of buds, not easy to find homes for that many.

It must have been mayhem and so noisy. It is very sad if they split pairs. It is also a shame that RSPCA is generally so strict about aviaries. When I was looking for a friend for Criswell there was a little bud that had been looking for a home for ages but they wouldn't let me have him. Some branches will rehome as house birds. There's a little guy looking for a home in Bournemouth and they are happy for him to be inside but too far away from me to be Dexter's new buddy. I'd love to take in one of these ones but I don't suppose I'll get the chance.

I wonder if RSPCA would accept indoor free-flying times and someone who has good experience and knowledge of budgie keeping. Indoors for now would seem a good option as they will not cope with moving from indoor temperatures to being bunged out in an aviary (especially unheated) until acclimatised.
I would be a little cautious - that many birds kept together in less than ideal conditions may well have a range of health problems. I wonder if the RSPCA will sort them out before re-homing? I hope so.
(Bulk shipment to Hezz? There must be room enough for them "out-back"

I don't see any difference between an aviary and a free flying room. Luckily my local branch does re-home to people without aviaries; they did with me when I got my second budgie. They wanted to see where Bertie would be living and what cage and accessories I had . I wonder why they all differ in requirements? You'd expect them to be consistent across the branches.
Ones I've rehomed from them I have been told have seen a vet, but personally I don't think it was an avian vet as Dorothy was severely disabled and they didn't know. The majority I took to my avian vet for a check up and to get catching nails clipped .
They do a good job though the RSPCA. The place they have at my branch is immaculately clean and they had room to fly about. I think the fee was £25 for one budgie or two for £40.

I paid £40 for my first two budgies from a petshop back in 2009.
I cannot say that their conditions were very good though, no toys, a tiny cage with a 8 budgies and 2 perches so all that they could do was hop back and forth.
Monty had scalyface and Eric only lived 2 months after I got him home. Of course back then I had less knowledge. I don't regret Monty and Eric though I am glad I got them out of there.

I think it should depend on the environment the birds are used to. If they've only lived inside, with toys and humans, it would be a huge change for them join a flock in a aviary and would they like it?
Lincolnshire RSPCA are currently rehoming 4 budgies in their cage as they've always been indoor birds. I don't suppose these Brighton birds are very tame so they might not really notice the difference if they go out into an aviary once it's warmer.
I agree that a free flying room doesn't seem any different to an aviary
