Mine too Hezz!!! Good job I feel I don't need any Alexa's, dot's whatever generation, or anything else!! I am however, glad I posed the question in the first place!! hehe

That's another thing I like about the Echo. It only speaks when spoken to.

@marianne, was thinking overnight, my dad got a Dot & linked it to a speaker he already had rather than buying the more expensive echo, so just mentioning that on the (admittedly small!) chance you happen to have a speaker, it's one way of boosting the sound quality of the Dot.

Mine is through my existing speaker. Any speaker that has Bluetooth will work. I think also might be possible to wire it, not sure though.
Just think you can tell Alexa to play lullabies without getting up 😊

I don't have a speaker. Every time I have bought one, it's broken really quickly. Thanks for the idea though, appreciate it

Do you have a TV Marianne? If you do and it is a flat screen one, then ir will have a Bluetooth connection.

We'll be getting rid of it soom hopefully, but have no plans to buy a flat screen TV. We watch films and catch up on husbands Computer. I don't think his screen has a bluetooth connection.

Sorry, I thought everybody had a flat screen TV, except me, these days. Like you I use the computer.

We're pretty low-tech here. I only buy old refurbished netbooks and use Linux with them.
We recently picked up a sofa from freecycle, cost us just £60 for the man and van to deliver it.
Funds are very short since my husband stopped working so that he could come to my hospital appointments with me.

That is heroic of your husband. Of course it will make your finances tight.

That is heroic of your husband. Of course it will make your finances tight. It was quite a while ago, I have a lot of respiratory and other appointments. Anyway, back to Alexa, sorry for going off topic. "Alexa, sing a lullaby to the budgies"

Wonder what the budgies will make of it Marianne 🤣🤣
It won't be long until she's playing lullabies for another little one 😉

The thing is Alexa will sing lullaby's as well as Happy Birthday. Tell jokes, play wild bird sounds. All you have to di is ask. If she can't she will politely tell you she can't.
