Loki has been really getting into his rolling onto his back recently, usually at the expense of my fingers as he digs both his claws and beak into me while he plays, but this morning I captured a few photos of him playing with one of the grass bundles .... Loki and grass ... nom nom More fun can be had with a little imagination .... ..is Spyro taking notes, or thinking 'what is that Loki up to??'
His other new best friends are a couple of ping pong balls and a shoe box.

Great photos, he is a magnificent bird with stunning colours. It would be great to see a video of him next time he has a play.

I love that picture with Loki 'juggling' with the grass, fantastic! What an inventive little chap. What does he do with the shoe box and ping pong balls Hezz?? I can imagine him aiming the balls into a hole in the shoe box, like crazy golf!!

He’s beautiful. Quite unusual for a bird to lay on their back like that. Have you trained him to do it I wonder? Spyro just looking on saying “what on earth is he doing, crazy bird”

He's having so much fun. It makes the photos even cuter with Spyro sitting there watching.

It's a conure thing to do, and not that unusual, apparently. For me, it hurts like the devil, with his sharp claws and beak, so putting something else in the way is my way of playing with him. I usually use a short piece of dowel or some paper rope. He is playing like this with me all the time, and I have seen him try with the little boys (they have no clue what is going on), but this was a first with the grass. Spyro was right down the far end of the cage, keeping out of the way, with Loki closer to the camera. It did make Spyro look so tiny. Ping pong balls are great. They are light enough for him to push around easily, just big enough that he can't get hold with his beak, and cheap for when the inevitable happens and I have to replace them. It is so much fun pushing a ping pong ball around on the bed until it goes over the side, boing, boing, boing, boing and then watch the human scrabbling down on hands and knees retrieving said ball from under the bed. The shoe box just has lots of bits of things to either play with or chew, or both, and the container can also be chewed. I also dropped a ping pong ball into his water; that was fun..... a Loki-version of bob for the apple.

jellybean, I haven't been very imaginative and that might be part of the problem .... I am trying to catch up, pass him and stay one step ahead so that he doesn't revert to all the naughty things, not that he has given them up anyway, but hopefully I can be inventive enough to side-track him. That is not easy, I liken it to stopping a determined toddler from drawing on the walls.
