Wow 8 is not bad for a little budgie and as you said you would have never have known he was that age the way he gallavanted around!

From reading others budgies that have lived a long life it would seem that the smaller ones live the longest. Maybe because they are more active or something.

Yes, I agree, the pet types live longer usually.
Could be the activity or that they are not bred purely for size and fluffiness like the show birds.

It's nearly 7 months since Ian died, and 9 since Marshie ran away, but I still find myself talking to them. Silly I know, but before I turn out the light at bed time I always say goodnight to my lost birdies and ask them to look after my current ones x

I wouldn't mind betting we all do that sort of thing Sam. I still talk to Joey and expect to see him in the cage. Edward and Bobby have not had that sort of impression. Maybe because they weren't in my life quite as long. I still miss having them around.
