Okay, but what size are the holes? Bar spacing should be no more than 12mm; is the plastic able to be bent out of shape? Just make sure that a budgie can't fit through, or get caught in the holes.

just letting everyone know I'm 99% sure that I know why my birds wouldn't go in their cage, the other day I when I cleaned out the tray I found what looked like a spider hiding out in the newspaper, I don't know how long it's been there for but after I got rid of it they started going back in the cage. Also I will be using aluminum chicken wire because I actually found a roll of it in our shed from a few years back when my dad built a rabbit cage for my sister.

Oh also the spacing on both the aluminum and plastic mesh are definitely too small for the budgies to get through, both are spaced 1/4" so 6.35mm

hey so i'm super sorry this has nothing to do with budgies specifically (it has to do with a wild bird), but my cat attacked a bird earlier today, the bird is still alive but his wings are injured and one foot is upside down so he can't use it too well. At the moment I have him in one of my budgies old birdcages, i'm going to be calling my vet in the morning, I also did some research and i'm pretty sure he's a red eyed vireo, so I went to a pet store and got him some food (crickets, and berries). I was wondering if anybody knows how I should care for him until he gets to the vet, also should I be keeping him in a cardboard box or is his okay in the cage? I hope someone sees this soon, and thanks sooooo much.

I would put some towels or sheets on the floor of the cage, make sure there is water available. Get the bird to a vet asap, overnight keep it in a dark, very quiet place. Wildlife rescue people generally ask that you don't try to feed the bird in case you give it something that is not its natural food. If you are sure that you have identified the bird, then I would do exactly what you have done - find it something to eat.
