Marianne Marlow, how long are you going to wait before you share with the budgies? Have you tried them with the new sprouts?

It's been 6 days, are the shoots big enough? How would I serve them?

It all depends on how they're growing Marianne, if you think they are too small, leave them for a few days yet. As to how to serve them, here's what I do......

That is great Jellybean, thank you! I don't have any cable ties, but I'll figure something out

The millet is about an inch or so high and the grass a couple of inches I think.

That is FANTASTIC Marianne Marlow! Oh I do hope mine turn out as good as that - even if I just got that far I'd be pleased! Here are my efforts - will update with progress pics (should I get any) lol!

I just realised that the long black seeds sprouted too, not sure what they are.

I googled and found that they might be nyger seeds. Hopefully edible too in sprouted form?

Niger seeds are the long blacks ones, M. Sorry, should have read on, before typing. You can pull up some of the sprouts, wash the soil off and mix in with you normal budgie chop, if you wanted to. That is one way to get them used to those funny little things.

I'm going to give Custard some when the others are in and then put some out for everyone tomorrow.
