Good luck at the vet ninz1. Hope all goes well for this little one, you're an absolute star, as are you Marianne Marlow. Thank you! Our vet appointment is at 6.15pm.I wanted it earlier but they had no appointments available. I'll keep you all updated on what they say. Hopefully it'll just be scaly face and nothing more. It's treatable and I doubt the medication is expensive, I don't see why someone would let their budgie go. Again just assuming that's what happened. I really hate it when people buy pets when they in the future let them go into their own deaths. I really don't understand why some people think that an animal will survive in the wild when all its life it's lived in homes. My friend who rescues hamsters found a hamster in someone's garden in the snow. Poor thing was stick thin and freezing to death. Luckily she saved him and he lived for another year with her. He was the sweetest hamster aswell. I wish people who no longer can care for their friends, who are moving, who don't like their pets anymore or cannot afford their care would just go to a rescue, or call rspca or come on a forum to be responsible and find a good home for their once loved and wanted pet. It's also our duty to not over judge and be unkind as we haven't loved through what they have and we also don't know the whole story as they may not be telling in everything, it's in our position to just think about the animal. Obviously I'm talking about the reasons I mentioned above and not about someone who abuses their pet and no wants to give it away. This is the very reason why I took a whole year at the age of 17 to get my budgie. I researched and really thought about it. I came from a family that didn't earn, mother was a carer and father is disabled mentally and physically. It was hard to wonder if I would be able to take care of a pet. So I got a part time job and my mums friend gave me £50 as a gift for anything I wanted. I got my first budgie with that money and I looked after him very well, with the money I had. This is why I can't keep this budgie otherwise it would be mine immediately. I have no space and in a few months time I won't have the time to care for it. I'll be working full time and my son will need my attention. It's really hurting me as having this budgie at home makes me feel normal again, as if something was missing but it's finally been filled. My hubby felt the same as he was fond of my budgies, I just can't wait until my boy grows up and then we can get another budgie for us all to play with. I hope and pray that someone reads this who is thinking of letting their budgie go to go to a rescue or a forum that can help them, and it's free aswell. Atleast this budgie will have a happy life now. My vets are amazing and I'm so looking forward to seeing them again. Just to let people know, CJ Halls Veterinary in East Sheen will take a stray, treat it and keep it for 10 days for the owner to turn up and then if not, they'll rehome the animal all for free although if you have the means it'll be super nice to give a donation for support.

😁 my brother and me were thinking of names just so that we could remember this very day, this is just a temporary name so it doesn't have to stick.
We have decided to name this budgie Lebu (le-boo) which means lemon in my language.

Good, how are the droppings? any better?
I'm really hoping this is just scalyface as that is easy to cure.

Good, how are the droppings? any better? I'm really hoping this is just scalyface as that is easy to cure. We're hoping it's the same thing. Droppings look much better! I do feel like the owner did not spend time in taking care of this budgie as it's not friendly.

Good, if the droppings are better then it's likely that they were green because the budgie had not eaten enough. Looks like you got to budgie just in time! We don't know the circumstances but as the budgie clearly has quite advanced untreated scalyface then yep they didn't take good care.

I'm sorry for not putting on vaseline, I would do but the budgie is quite scared. Hopefully it'll get the right treatment today. If we didn't have an appointment today then I would've gone ahead with the vaseline.
The budgie was only pooing the urate part (the whitish part) yesterday. It's now got the poo and it's fully formed so I'm really pleased. Poor thing was so hungry that it wasn't phased by me sorting out the cage.
I don't think it would've survived much longer outside. It's beak looks really worn aswell, it probably tried eating what it could find. Poor little one, I'm so happy I got it. It was fate, something I believe in 😁

Have you noticed that the budgie looks like the one in your profile gif file?
Yes, your vet can start the ivermectin treatment for the budgie (usually one drop on the back of the neck once a week for 3 weeks) then I can carry on with it, if it's just that that is wrong.

Haha yes I noticed that after writing the first post! It reminds me of Huckleberry, he was such a character!
It's pray it's just scaly face as this budgie would be so loved at yours. It deserves so much happiness x

ninz1 phoned and the vet says the budgie is healthy other than the scalyface. Lemon has had some meds at the vet and we'll continue medication here. Ninz will bring Lemon to us tomorrow morning. I have to get the cage and some space set up!
