Just noting that you have half fertile and half not. Egg 7?
Welcome to the world, little chicky.

Still just the one egg hatched. It's going to be so HUGE compared to the others! Mum & Dad are being great parents and Dad is often in the nestbox with Mum and she doesn't get made and yell at him to get out- it's true love! I threw out the infertile eggs and put a couple of fake eggs in there to help buffer little babies against big brother, when they hatch.

Here's baby number one looking all cute and fluffy! Number two is doing great as well. Third egg hasn't hatched.

It's amazing how quickly they feather up. I wonder what mutations they will be!
Any ideas?

I just have no clue about mutations at all! Well I'm no expert either! But we can all have a guess when they feather up a bit more

Mum plucked out all of babies fluffy white down feathers. She's still caring for the babies, feeding and there's no sign she's harmed either in any other way or any of the other feathers having been plucked, so I'm not waiting for the second chick to get old enough to take Mum out and let Dad raise them alone. I'd rather the second chick be a little older first as I won't be able to hand feed them due to work. I did want to have two clutches so I had the option to foster should I need it but the second pair didn't settle down to breed (he was keen, she wasn't). I'll be keeping a very careful eye on the babies and will remove Mum if she plucks any of the other feathers out. My poor little baldy chick.
