I have 2 Pairs of Budgies and one of the pair now has 3 chicks and hence thought they need a bigger cage. I had one Big Cage created, it is 5x3x2 (feet) and divided in the center to make 2 different cages.
The need for 2 different partition is so that I can house the Budgies and my other pair of Lutino LoveBirds. The problem is they just dont want to stay in the new cage and they always wants to go to the top of the cage. I switched the Lutinos to the top part and Budgies below and vice versa but they were agitated through out the day , finally I had to put them back into the old cages. Any idea why the birds want to go to the top of the cage and what has to be done so that they accept the new Cage?
Thanks,

Birds of any kind will always prefer to be higher up, they feel vulnerable otherwise. They would probably be better side by side.

Agree; no bird wants to be under another. Side by side would be a much better solution.

Birds naturally go as high as possible. Nothing to worry about. Build your perches high is key... nice long ones so birds can be next to each other. You can put the odd perch low, but encourage them with food or water.
