So after buying my cuties a new cage I am decided that I want to breed them. I have seen many guides online with tips and tricks but there are some questions that I have. Is it better to get a wooden nest box or a plastic one. What can I do to make sure my hen is ready as I would hate to lose her or the cock to death in this situation. Where should the nesting box be How many eggs would she have for her first Thank you

You need to address a few things before considering breeding. Are you certain they aren't related, are they older than a year but younger than 4 years of age? Are they on a breeding diet? You need to get them onto a breeding diet for and you should do some research about what that entails, otherwise, you'll risk their health if you do decide to breed.
Wooden or plastic nestbox, providing you're looking at budgie nestboxes, is down to preference.
The best box should be at a high point in the cage with you able to access the door to check on the eggs/chicks easily.
The number of eggs varies.

I would suggest that you find a breeder and ask them for help, or even offer to help out there as a volunteer so you know exactly what to expect. Diet is all important, calcium supplements for your hen, fresh food etc.
A clutch of eggs could be anything from zero to eight/nine. If you don't know the age of your hen, please don't try to breed her. As a first time breeder, I would not allow her to sit on any more than three or four.
