I hope the original owners of this beautiful dog, NEVER get to own another animal. I love dogs, and to see them mistreated breaks my heart. It can't be any fun for Mac, always being so stressed, is there any time at all Hezz when he's relaxed and at peace. He couldn't have gone to a better home.

He can play with a young dog - he is really good at that. Across the road have a great dane pup ... or not-so-pup .. I guess he must be getting on towards 12 months old and the two dogs have had great play times together as big-boy-Loki (yes, another)-next-door breaks out on a regular basis. But with older dogs he gets all offensive unless they are really laid-back dogs like lives at the house that he runs away to. Maybe he wants to go live there. That might be an answer, although I don't know that they want another. Anyway, I fixed the containment line today, so tomorrow we (he and I) will trial his staying at home skills. Wish me luck! I also have a fat ankle for my troubles, so no walks will be happening for a few days.

Good Luck Do you think he may want the company of a (young) dog? Cling to the hope this can be sorted - if he gets enjoyment from big Loki across the road then there is hope yet

Next exciting installment ..... now that the wire has been fixed and the parameters reset, the collar is mis-firing. If this has been happening all the while, but low-level, it may be the reason, or one of anyway, behind all his troubles. Now he won't stay home unless he is tied up. Once I realised what was happening this morning and removed his containment collar, he was down the driveway and onto the street before I could react. So, picture this: I'm still in my pj's, fat ankle, dog down the street, me hurrying up the stairs, get dressed, hurry down stairs, hobble, hobble, down driveway (ouch!), down street (double ouch), dog sees me, goes further down the street and around the corner, won't come when called, me finally reach corner, dog half way down the next block and watching me to take off further, so I turned in the other direction, the way we would go for our morning walk, Mac comes bounding up to do walks as well. Phew! Lead on, back up the street, back up driveway, tie up dog, me back up stairs and finally I can have breakfast!

Oh, whoops .... I think I know what I did - hit the edit button, not the quote button. Shirls, I am sure it would have been very funny to anyone watching from the sidelines. I was actually hoping someone would be around so I could yell out to "grab that dog, will you, please". At 6am, on a Sat morning? Oh yeah, Hezz, whistle to the wind.

Blimey! What a nightmare! Oh poor Mac and poor you Hezz you really have been having a time of it! How come you got a fat ankle? I do hope you get better soon x Well, it goes like this, Sam ............... containment wire was broken, the transmitter has an alarm that lets us know this. This happened a week ago ........... someone at home was tooooo busy to fix, so on my first day off work, muggins here goes off to do what the man shoulda done ......... aussieemjay.files.wordpress.com/2008/03/6a00e398b6cb12000400f48ce49d580002.jpgOur block of land is almost 1300m 2, so not a small thing. The wire goes right around the very perimeter. I started checking the wire, what ended up being about 4-5metres from where the break was but of course, Murphy's law said that I went in the OTHER direction. Three hours later, I came across the break, but there were some fencing logs stacked across the section of wire ... honestly, I ask you ... who would do that?? By this time I was very hot, very tired, and swearing up a pirate storm. I threw logs off the wire, one hit another much heavier log, and basically bounced right back up and landed right across my instep/ankle. Hurt like the bejesus, but if I had stopped I wouldn't have gotten going again, so fixed the break in the wire, cleaned up and, supposedly everything was working well .... by the time I had finished with the job, showered and etc, I had a fat ankle for my troubles. Don't worry, I intend to extract pain from the OH for not doing the job in the first place!!!

My son has a dog he was given!!!! She is a little terrier and was bought up with 3 big alsations and totally ignored. The other dogs picked on her. She has never played, does not know what to do with toys, didn't go for walks and had a skin condition, she constantly licked her feet sore. They took her home and after two years she has started to throw a ball but does not know what to do with it when she has it, she has stopped chewing her paws so much and now gets very excited when it is time for walks, she bounces up and down and talks to you. It has taken two years of love and patience, she is the most laid back dog I know and lives an absolute life of luxury and pampering. Goes to the office everyday with them, as they have their own company, sleeps on their bed!!!! Mmm not sure about that and sits between them on the sofa. She now eats her food and when I went down they had left her in whilst they were out. I was told to give her a chew from behind the door where they are kept in the kitchen. Well I was too late and the little madam had gone in and got the whole bag of chews and taken them into the living room and was quite happily eating them Well I don't think I should say anything about her original keepers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fingers crossed for Mac and he gets better. xx
