Hi everyone!
I have been researching nutrition for my new budgie, Lemon (female). I was just wondering what you guys feed your budgies and what your feeding schedules look like? I have seen so much contradicting info, I wanted to see what you guys do. Mainly I am interested in what foods you feed (ie. how much and what kind of seed, what kind of veggies and fruits, egg food? (my budgie is molting right now and seems to be craving a lot of calcium), other cooked foods?, sprouts, ect.) and how often do you feed those foods (do you have a schedule that you follow?). Also, what are your budgies favorite foods (other than their seed! hahaha!)? Do you give supplements?
Thanks guys!! You have been saving my behind so far!

My budgies are fed budgie bravo which consists of red millet and yellow millet, canary seed and groats. I also give them egg food, normally EMP. Sometimes I mix in a bit of tonic seed.
They are allowed a red millet spray occasionally. The girls, especially Polly, like to nibble on a piece of balsa wood. Obviously she doesn't eat it, just destroy it.
I change their seed every morning in the bowls on the tops of the cages and every evening in their seed troughs in the cages, also their water.
My budgies like basil, dill, carrot and sweetcorn mainly. They also get a boiled, grated or mashed egg every couple of weeks.
They have cuttlefish and an iodine block in their cages.
For supplements, they get Apple Cider vinegar in their water 2-3 times a week at 10ml per 500ml of water, sometimes (twice a week) I put iodine in the water too at a rate of 1 drop per 100ml.

My guys get a finch seed mix (less fatty seeds), fresh seeding grass every day, and every other thing is fresh, nothing cooked, as they don't like hard boiled egg but prefer egg and biscuit dried food. Vege's are whatever is going at the time - carrot, corn, broccoli, snow peas, apple, grapes etc. Less fruit more veges is the best way to go, they don't need the sugar.
