The other two boys are also nesting, or nest-building anyway, but they are not right beside the house. They still come for seed as do the girls, but Mr Chook was such a funny fellow, even if he did make a mess of almost everything. I have made am investment in plastic fence matting to keep him from scratching up all my mulch and any newer plants. If we leave the mound there, another tom might use it next year. Who knows. They do seem to reuse and recycle their nests, so I can hope ...
