Marianne Marlow, it is a (only one) golden penda flowerette. Many small flowers making up one main clump. He loves flowers - I think he thinks he is a rainbow lorikeet in South American colours. My early morning "dog walks" include snaffling appropriate flowers to add to the Lokster's diet. The dog still remains ignorant of the fact that his walks have an ulterior motive.

I'm sure that the dog doesn't mind, as long as he gets his walk.
You must have done a lot of research as to which flowers Loki can eat.
Silly me, I thought that they were Euccy leaves with some flowers added.

Oh how I love Loki and what a diet he has! You are so lucky being able to pick these flowers too Hezz...talking out of ignorance, are they nectar rich flowers then? Is that what Loki likes so much about them?

Regarding the flowers, I pick as long as I can reach, anything that the lorikeets feed on, and he seems to love them all. Of course he doesn't have the brush tongue that they have, but he does a great job of chewing the centres out, so I guess he is getting the nectar. The flowers are very much the same as eucalyptus flowers, or bottlebrush flowers, they all have a similarity. Marianne, he likes chewing the leaves as well, he smells so lovely when it has been the eucalyptus leaves. I could sniff him all day, lol! skysmum , no, no smell. They are very pretty though. The trees all bloom at the same time, usually after a good lot of thunderstorms or a cyclone, and the trees are totally covered. Very stunning, but they don't last any time - in a couple of weeks it is all over. Here are a couple of photos I had taken of two golden pendas a couple of years ago: closeup -

Just a normal looking tree at any other time, but when they go off, they really do put on a show. No shortage of Loki-food for a week or two, only.

Ahhh i remember those pics Hezz, i think i asked the same question back then about them having a scent, they just look as though they should have, so pretty I have a small bottle brush and it graced me with three beautiful red flowers last year, i can see the similarity, the house round the corner has a large one in the front garden and its beautiful in the summer
