I have a breeding pair of budgies. I didn't even know the hen was a hen until she laid an egg on March 1st. Now she has 3 eggs. I have someone coming to inspect our building tomorrow and they said I'd have to move my birds out of the way. I usually have them next to a closet door I never go in to. So this morning I decided I would clean their cage out as well as move them to the opposite side of the same room. Now it's been hours and the hen has not returned to her nesting box. How do I get her to go back in and sit on her eggs? She was sitting on them until after I cleaned the cage and moved it. Has she decided to abandon ship now? Should I start incubating them myself and of yes how do I do that?

Can't help there sorry; they don't being disturbed once they have started sitting. I know of no way to entice the hen back to sitting once she has decided not to.

Thank you for the reply. The eggs weren't fertile. I learned how to candle them and then tried it. None of them had signs of life inside. But for next time I know not to clean or movee the cage.
