Ada and Eagle have been scratching at there faces the last few weeks, at one point it was realy bad and ada cut her eye lid with her claw (just a small scratch but it did bleed a bit) and eagle just kept doing it and made his eye sore and rubbed out a feather. I cant see anything on them and there is no crusting but took them to see the exotic vet who couldnt find anything bugs on them and he did use the microscope and some tape to check, and gave them a once over. So he gave them some spot on just incase it was the very beggining of scaily face. Ive offered them more baths than normal and yesterday gave there cage and base a good wash (not sure how to wash rope and wodden stuff) and allthough they are not rubbing as much they are still doing it more than they use to and ada has lost a bit of skin where the cear overlaps the beak. Still no crusting and still cant see any bugs. They are due back in the vets at the end of the month for another does of spot on and a check over.
Any ideas on what it could be? Diets the same trill with a millet spray (do the sprays need to be washed?) and no new toys or perches.

Hmmm. See I would have said mites but then you put that they had been seen by a vet so that one is out. Hmm could anything have caused an allergic reaction? Any type of spray or cleaner maybe that you have used recently? As for cleaning the wood perches and rope toys. Soak them in hot water with some type of avian disinfectant, I use F10 then hang them out to dry Hopefully somebody will come along with advice about the itchiness.

Have you been using your heating? - just wondered if they had dry skin and were itchy from that?

It is normally new feathers growing or mites. Do spot all birds for mites twice a year. Spray your cage and yous with anti mite spray after removing the seed containers
