one has to do to stop a very stubborn hen from chewing your curtains: Teddy by , on Flickr She used to come down on command but she now totally ignores me and says to herself, 'I WILL chew these curtains, so there!! You can see that little hammock she has made herself to sit in!!

My two used to do that too Shirls, not the chewing, but the little nest thing, especially Max. But I recently changed my curtain pole and bought eyelet curtains, so they cant do it now. But they still sit on the curtain rail 🤣🤣

sorry not funny but I found it funny.
growing up, we had a budgie hen, she used to work her way round the table lamp shades, or floor standing shades, til the shade just dropped to the floor.

I have white plastic strips on my hardwood windows to stop Jo chewing them.

That is so funny! When I had my two lads, Joey and Twitch, if they got tired of playing on their usual table, they would hop down onto the carpet and start nibbling at the skirting board. So I had to put various ornaments and even a soft cuddly penguin (not mine, cough! ) on the floor which deterred them.

I have white plastic strips on my hardwood windows to stop Jo chewing them. We have as well. Spent a good half day Smudge-proofing the window frames. I've had to put heavy-duty insect screen over all the windows as well.

Your story ffiscool reminds me of the pink block in the cage the buds have, suddenly it will drop to the floor from where it was hung, and the perpetrator has the cheek (after watching it fall to the ground) to look at me and say "WOW! Who did that?"!

When Abbie was here I had to put milk cartons on top of the curtain rails. It stopped her for about a day and then I came back from shopping to find all the cartons on the floor and her on the curtain chewing it to pieces.

That sounds about right, M. Remember the "scary" eagle's head painting that I used to (ha, ha) scare Mango off our timber-framed mirror? It worked for about a week, then she started nibbling the edges of the (scary) canvas!!

I remember that too Hezz, and no doubt Pip will soon realise that the scary teddy doesn't bite back. At the moment she is chewing newspaper like there is no tomorrow! Must be the breeding season!!!

I tried that too Shirls as my two particularly Impy is partial to nibbling at paint and the ceiling. It worked great for a while but I caught them both on the rail the other day with teddy’s in situ. Needless to say they can only come out now when I’m in the room to supervise 🙄

Has your hen stayed away from the curtains then Shirls? Or has she started to shred teddy and make a nest in it
