hi all just gone to c the birds and one of my hens in a breeding cage is covered in blood on her back and wings, i have no idea how this has happened (there is no blood on the cock) the blood doesnt seem to be "dripping" so possibly only a small bleed that has spread. i have isolated her in a cage on her own and put her somewhere warm until i can get someone to help clean her up and find out where the bleeding is coming from. is there anything i can do in the mean time and if she is still bleeding what can i use to stop it?? any replies very much appreciated

the bleeding appears to have stopped and she was preening through the blooded feathers this morning and appears to have cleaned herself up, ive not physicallly checked to c where the bleed was coming from because i didnt want to make it worse or stress her out i have kept a close eye on her for the last 24 hours

Glad the bleeding has stopped Dan. I know from experience that it can be scary when they break a feather and there is blood everywhere!
It happened to my Sky last year. I put some flour on it and put him in a cage with low perches, partly covered and it stopped bleeding, he was fine,
For a moment there I was very very worried though!

it worried me alot when i first saw it as all the cages surfaces were covered in blood! i have no idea how this started but ill give her another day or 2 to settle back in and ill c if i can open her wings to c where the bleed started as it may well have been a blood feather and needs removing :S
