and found these two, very interesting creatures: Beetle by on Flickr Spider by on Flickr One of the spiders legs is over his back, so he is intact. Just look at the detail of his markings if you can see it. On my phone it is so clear. The beetle is a Cardinal Beetle, found on my fuchsia.

Very pretty critters, Shirls. How is the gardening coming along? Have you tamed that front section?

I like Cardinal beetles. I've not seen one in ages. Not since the rabbits ate all the fuchsias

Ah so it's fuchsias that Cardinal Beetles like then criswell? Didn't know that. A couple of years ago I had quite a few Cardinals in my wild bit at the bottom of my garden and there is (quite a tatty)fuchsia down there. Got to say this one was on a very healthy fuchsia in the front garden.

Very pretty critters, Shirls. How is the gardening coming along? Have you tamed that front section? Thanks for asking Hezz, but the only 'taming' has been all the shredding of a huge tree in my neighbours garden being shot over my front 'terraces'. Sycamore I think it was, (not very good with trees) and it seems to have calmed things down a bit. I will take a pic next time I'm out there, have had to come in, it's so bloomin hot!! It's not even mid-day yet! Front terraces looked pretty good when I put all the tulips out (in pots) in the spring, I'll see if I can find a pic of that too.

I think they like fuchsias because they are well camouflage on them. They are predators and eat insects. According to the Wildlife Trust the black-headed species is rare so it's nice that you have one.

Yes criswell, just found out that the black headed Cardinals are the rarer ones, and that they don't eat fuchsias, but insects. So my fuchsias are safe!!

The beetle I could cope with Shirls, but not the spider, especially not one that size 😲 Great photos though.

Lovely pics Shirls , that is a freaky looking spider, i don't think ive ever seen one like that, shudder The ones I have seen like that usually lie with all their legs either forward or back, not out to the side. On a piece of bark you wouldn't know they were there. Psst ... they are not that big.
