Thank you Marianne. I can still read a little bit at a very slow pace though.

Charlie started chewing again tonight......I said 'I am coming with the pegs' and when he saw the pegs he stopped. Day two and I am winning 😉....... So far so good!

You just need to convert the sight of the pegs into something like "NO, Charlie". Keep the pegs in sight for a while until he gets the idea. Don't sing your praises until it is all over. He might surprise you.

Just to update.......I am slowly winning the battle. He still goes to chew the bars sometimes after he has eaten, but if he sees me get up ( and I say a firm no Charlie) and he sees the peg in my hand.......He usually stops now and wipes his beak on the perch......Occasionally , and it seems to be at night when he feeds and he is probably getting tired......then he will challenge me and get cross with the pegs.....But I have to say , I don’t think it will be too long before he stops..... It’s hard work for me as I am disabled, but I am definitely winning, the house is much quieter! Apart from his constant talking and chattering......But I absolutely love that 😘😘

Thank you for updating. The interesting part is that you say he has just eaten. Could it be he is cleaning his beak perhaps? He is learning that it is OK to use the perch. All my budgies have done hat. Keep on with the traing though. Sorry to hear you are disabled, so am i now. Such is life.

Yes it’s always after he has eaten. The pegs are definitely working and he is using his perch branches a lot more. He’s smart, he knows now he shouldn’t do it, and sometimes I catch him nibbleing really quietly, and I soon As I say NO Charlie he runs and uses his perch.....So I am slowly winning.........I was also worried what it would do to his beak eventually. Sorry you are disabled too, not much fun is it, but we have to keep smiling, and Charlie certainly makes me laugh a lot.....

I thought Charlie’s biting habit was almost over, but tonight for some reason he just wouldn’t stop. I was sitting next to the cage....peg in hand, but in the end I had to just leave him to chew. He was getting himself worked up and racing around the cage, I got worried he was going to hurt himself. I won’t give up but I don’t want him hurting himself either 🤬🤬.
