My two Ben & Max have just come through a moult, and as such have had days where they are a bit quiet, which is the norm.
Yesterday they had sleep/play time as the do and ate as normal, I held up the remainder of their seeding grass last night as normal and they scoffed it.
This morning I noticed both of them particularly quiet, especially Max, not chirping, or playing and sleeping more. He was also kicking his feet up as if he was trying to remove poop, but there didn't seem to be any stuck.
I caught Max and examined him, and I think I have found a lump on his stomach ๐ I hope I'm wrong. Hopefully get an appointment with vet tomorrow. Any suggestions in the meantime that I can do for him. SO WORRIED.

I'm sorry that you found a lump. It could be a fatty lump or a tumour, more likely the fatty lump though.
Unfortunately only the vet can tell you which it might be.
I hope that Max will be with you for many more years.

Thanks Marianne, I hope I'm wrong with the lump as when he's sitting there is nothing protruding, he's been fluffed up and sleepy, but perked up a little while ago and jumped on to my hand to eat the remainder of his seeding grasses. He's been on the highest corner perch for quite some time today, so I put a hot water bottle on top of the cage with a towel on top of it to keep him warm. Fingers crossed tomorrow.

Just back from vet. Got an emergency appointment.
She gave Max a good examination, and felt the lump I felt yesterday, other than doing an X-ray and blood tests, she guessed it was fatty liver.
She suggested a course of antibiotics and anti inflammatories first, to see how he responds, and to return for a further visit Friday morning.
He is on:- Metacam 0.02mls (by mouth) Marbocyl 0.02mls (by mouth) Avipro plus, 1 scoop per 200mls of water Top to Forage - which is a liver support mix containing dried mix of, Milk thistle leaves, Dandelion leaf, Artichoke, Hibiscus, Dandelion root, and milk thistle seeds, which I doubt they'll eat.
Should I stick with the Liver support mix or buy liquid Milk Thistle?
How would I give this taking into account the Avipro plus in his water?
Would appreciate anyone giving added advice to help me out.

I'm sorry that Max has a fatty liver. But on the plus side it does give him a better chance for longevity than a tumour. Maybe see if he'll eat the liver support mix and then perhaps you could alternate the avipro in water and liquid milk thistle on alternate days? Hezz what do you think?

Would a change of seed help? They get Haith's Budgie Bravo at the minute which has Groats.

That depends, is he overweight? I have not limited Custards seed because he's actually very light (he has a liver condition) I actually give him extra millet every evening when all the others are in.
Dill and celery are meant to be good for the liver.

When the vet weighed him he was 55g Ben was 50g. I'm guessing the weight of Max was partly due to the fatty liver lump. Ben is lost without him, he's quite motionless too because he's no one to play with.
