Airplane mode turns off apps as well. What about turning off background app refresh in your settings, I do this on all my apps except google photos. You've lost me suesbird 🤔😁

Ok sorry. If you go into settings the screen comes up with airplane mode, blue tooth, mobile data etc Scroll down the screen until you start seeing the list of apps, such as amazon, bbc weather, chrome, ebay etc. if you tap on the app it opens another screen and it should say Backround App and mobile data, if they show green then they are working in the background. Tap the background app and it stops it working in the background and wasting your data and costing you money.
Hope you understand this. I must admit my friend had a new Samsung last week and she is struggling with it.

Sorry if this is a silly question but do you have antivirus and a malware app on your phone? As this looks like malware or adware to me, I have a Samsung and have an antivirus as well as malwarebytes on my phone for instances such as these (free to download via app store) Hope that helps jellybean

I've just downloaded Malwarebytes Sam as you suggested, did a scan, but nothing was found.
I run the Device Maintenance app that comes with the phone every day.
I've had these infuriating ads pop up occasionally, but yesterday was....😠😠😠

Stupid question, but did you click where it says "prevent this page from creating additional dialogues" and then press ok?

Marianne, I have tried EVERYTHING. It's back today again, thats the reason I've not been on, I am on my laptop now. I phoned 02 this morning 3 times, the first time I cut the guy off by mistake trying to put him onto speaker phone while I looked at my phone and read out the pop up advert. 2nd time the girl said she'd put me through to technical services.........she cut me off. 3rd time, I spoke to another girl and had to go through the whole story again, she spoke to technical services and came back and told me it was not an 02 problem, it was a Samsung problem and gave me Samsungs phone number. By this time I'm losing the will to live " src="//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/superangry.png"> I phoned Samsung gave all my details, he then told me to download a "Samsung Smart Tutor" app while still on the phone to him, and they could then access my phone and find out where the problem was, but he said the technology to do that at his end wasn't working at the minute, and it could take 24/48 hours to fix " src="//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/superangry.png"> " src="//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/superangry.png"> TECHNOLOGY!!!!!

Oh dear Jellybean, I really feel for you, how frustrating. Hope tomorrow is a better day. Tell them to take the phone back and don't pay your bill and see what happens

The phone is over 2 years old Sue, and it's 02 I pay my bill to.
I think I deserve some sort of compensation though.
It's only around this time of night that it stops.

Strange, I think phones have something in them that after two years they start to go wrong, just when you are out of contract.

Marianne, I am posting this from my tablet, but just to let you know, I had a phone call from a Gentleman from Samsung earlier, from the app I mentioned earlier that I had to download he was able to take over my phone, with my permission, it was amazing to watch. I explained everything and he asked if I had a picture of the pop up, I brought the picture up, and he said he would find the website that was causing this to happen. After about 45 seconds up came the culprit...............The Budgerigar Forum. He said this is not a secure website, I keep getting notices telling me this website us not secure. He said all secure websites have https The forum only has http, therefore not secure. Is there anything you can do?

It is secure, Proboards explained that because the photos are hosted elsewhere sometimes the https doesn't come up. Something like that. I believe that if you go to the login page https comes up. There is a post in feedback and help about it.
